  1. The AF1 flight that never landed was with President Nixon aboard.  Gerald Ford was sworn in as President while the AF1 flight was airborne, thereby losing its AF1 designation, since the callsign only follows the President.  The aircraft was then known to ATC as SAM 27000 for special air mission and the tail number of the 707 Presidential aircraft.

  2. It is any Air force aircraft that the President of The United States of America is on. Therefore it can be any number of aircraft. But is usually the Boeing 747.

  3. ANY  plane is considered AF as soon as the President (POTUS) is aboard.

    Be it a 777 or a cessna 172.

  4. Air Force One (A1) is any aircraft operated by the US Air Force on which the president is traveling.   If the president is on an aircraft operated by a different service, for example a Marine helicopter, the call sign is Marine One (VM1).  If the president is traveling on a civilian aircraft, the aircraft is "Executive One."   The same applies to the vice president, except it is now Air Force Two, etc.

BTW, for trivia fans, during all the flights of Air Force One, it has made one more take-off than landing, although it never crashed (and obviously is not still "up there.")  Just something for you to think about.

  5. uuhhh yea  and its a shoe  lol

  6. He is right ;)

  7. Callsign
