  1. Um, before you take things any further, please consider the following facts:

    1. Canada does not have states but provinces

    2. Canada is a proper noun and is always capitalized; don't write 'canada' but 'Canada'

  2. It's a province, similar to a state.

I went to grades 5 through 9 there...while back, that.

    Elementary school is K-6.

    Junior High is 7-9.

    High School is 10-12.

There are "public" schools and what are called "separate" schools, but the separate schools are public as well, but Catholic. (Teachers generally have to be Catholic and the Catholic religion is taught in the schools, for a couple hours a week I think.)

I went to a bit of an alternative school for 7-9 so I'm not sure how my experience is different. It was based on the system that may well still be used at Bishop Carroll HS in Calgary so you can check that out.

  3. Alberta is a province, not a state (we don't have states) In Alberta, education from Kindergarten to Grade 12 (generally ages 6-18) is the responsibility of the Ministry of education. Post-secondary education, including universities, colleges and technical institutions, is the responsibility of the Ministry of Advanced Education.

  4. As others have already mentioned, Alberta is a province in Canada. They are like states, because they have their own local government offices, and handle local laws, education, as well as other matters.

But since your teacher asked you to compare three "states", you should probably not choose a province in Canada to compare two other states to.

Americans have fifty states to choose from...pick three of them from around the country and use those. For example, you might choose your state (because I assume you may know a bit about your educational system), then one from across the country (so if you are in Montana for example, you might want one from the east coast), and then your third could be a state that has special considerations, like Alaska or Hawaii because they are not in continental USA.

What you are looking for is what is the same in all three, and what may be different. Then you may want to explain why they are different.

    Good luck.

  5. Alberta is a province

and what did yo want to know about its educational system????

no matter where you are on the planet, you can learn only what you capable of learning
