  1. No it is not. This is because there is so much money to be made on beers etc on the train.

  2. Main line trains (even those that run only within London) aren't included in the ban, because they are classed as part of National Rail and the Mayor of London has no say in how they are run.

Any decision about banning alcohol on these trains would have to be taken at a national level, i.e. by the British Government. Other than that, it's up to the individual train companies.

  3. thats because british rail doesn't exist, it was privatised years ago so i would assume that the companies running the rail services would be making the rules for their own trains, and as some of them sell alcohol id say your fine to drink onboard. if your still unsure then ask the conductor.

  4. nope, you can drink till your heart's content on overground trains - in fact if they have a buffet car or trolley they'll probably even sell it to you!

  5. not in scotland anyway, not sure about the rest of england?

  6. Oh god I hope so.  Theres nothing worse than being stuck on a train filled with drunken d**k heads.  It wouldnt be so bad if people drank in moderation, kept themselves to themselves etc...but people dont.  A couple of hours wothout a beer whilst on a train aint gonna kill anyone!

  7. Phone the train company.

  8. Not as far as i know, He doesn't have a mandate over the rail companies i believe,  But it may not be long before someone suggests it.

Clive    I have and its not nice. Vomit and fights lovely, perhaps you didn't travel at night when all the numptys come out to play

  9. No, it's not. (And I can think of one line where it almost appears of late as though it is compulsory of an evening to have a can of Fosters in hand...)

  10. What about Scottish Rail, British Rail is only in England/Wales, it should be all across the UK, if it's to be fair, eh?
