  4. well there are a few about  .  know boys and men Alex/Alexander   also a girl Alex(short for Alexandra I think).. Possibly more popular in the past than now,

  10. Yes sort of. I'm Scottish my middle name is Alex (I'm a girl), my Dad's middle name is Alexander and his (late) Dad was/is called Alexander.

    Also my second cousin is called Alex (she's a girl too).

    I would say Alex is more popular than Alexander and it's also more popular in girls than boys now-a-day.

  13. yes, it's very common un the UK.. My name is Alexander but I only use that when I sign my name on a document or a cheque. In daily life here in Scotland, I am known as Sandy. I know it may be a girls name elsewhere in the world but I've managed to live with it for 51 years so I've gotten quite used to it.

  18. i think its fairly common there as well as here in the u.s! i love the name myself! my grandson is named alex and i love the name alexandra for a girl!  

  19. I called my baby Alex  almost 6 years ago now (birthday in october!) Back then i thought it wasn't so common, then he went to schoo and theres 2 more Alex's and the schools only got a populations of 85

    Saying that, my Alex is just Alex, whereas they're both Alexanders
