Question:

Is algebra 2 a hard class?

Okay, so freshman year I failed algebra 1. But I retook it sophomore year and I got a solid A the first semester and an A- in the second. (I even had the same teacher! Now I have that teacher for geometry....) Anyways, my school goes on the block schedule so I have algebra 2 scheduled for my next semester...and I hear the teacher grades terribly hard (he gave a student a -84!) So, what are my chances of getting an A in Algebra 2? I have an A in geometry right now and I'm halfway through the first quarter (a quarter of the way through the class.) And algebra 1 seems insanely easy for me now, despite my past troubles in math. I was thinking over the summer I could take Intro to Stats at a community college to help me prepare for AP Stats at school next year. I know I'm aiming pretty high for someone who isn't the best math student. Will algebra 2 be a challenge for me?

  1. Algebra 2 is not that hard (I had it a few years ago). More or less, it is an extension of all of the concepts you learned in Algebra 1. It is still a lot of arithmetic and steps, but the theory behind the math isn't terribly difficult. I still have a bunch of old problems and questions from that class; if you want any to practice with if you need help, just let me know!

  2. I'm currently in Algebra 2 right now, and I don't think it's to bad. Algebra 2 pretty much builds off of Algebra 1, so Geometry isn't involved to much. But yeah, just study hard, pay attention in class, and get on the teachers good side.
