Basic instinct is Animal ism. Our intellect can help in overcoming foulness!

Basic education do not stress on it. 'Learned' are not those who read Heavy books but one who understand real LOVE.

  1. It's Primate Instinct.

  2. Certainly, yes. Our intellect is ALL that separates us from the animals. We can use our intellect to live like animals or we can use our intellect to live as humans. The choice is ours. Unlike animals, we have a choice. Hence, unlike animals YOU are answerable for your actions. Animals act on instinct. They are NOT in control of their actions. So, if you believe in 'karma' you will realise that animals cannot add any demerit points. By the suffering they go through without resistance they are actually getting rid of their accumulated demerit points. Man, on the other hand, through his misdeeds (vices) acquires many, many demerit points which throw him further and further down the spiritual ladder. By doing good deeds, through honesty and truthful living, he earns many merit points and can actually break the cycle of births and deaths. Well, that is my belief. You don't have to agree with me. So you decide, do you want to move forward (up the spiritual ladder) or slip further and further down.

  3. Intellect can be a vice as well.

  4. Yes, we are animals with animal instincts. But we also have a spiritual mind which we can use to curtail our physical urges.

  5. the idea that all "motion" comes from instinct was first voiced by Thomas Hobse (sp?) in 1692, in a book entitled "Leviathon". It is a fascinating read actually (a bit dry perhaps and written in archaic language). He assumed that this concept was a foregone conclusion.

The theory does not really hold up.

  6. The biggest culprit is ego which makes us even worse than animals.... because of the ill influences of ego, we become even more dangerously evil than any known beast on earth.

Real LOVE (you have rightly typed it in capitals) is indeed one of the answers to overcome and control ego.... when under the influence of true love, we do forget and ignore our ego-driven compulsions. However, such real LOVE is very rare, perhaps almost non-existent in today's materialistic world, and whatever little glimpses we do find are only momentary aberrations caused by extreme emotions rather than the true sublime LOVE which alone lasts and never leads to a hurt or regret.

  7. Vice is the abnegation or the ignoring of virtue. The senses are not involved in it, unless you count "common sense."

  8. Yes thats absolutely true.
