also, would it be weird to serve irish coffee with a pie? (strawberry rhubarb to be exact) it seems like it is usually served with chocolate cake or something like that.

  1. Strawberry Rhubarb! an excelent pie to serve with an alcoholic after dinner beverage.  I grow rhubarb to make wine, as well as pies.  For that reason a good portion of my yard(as well as some indoor forcing of rhubarb) is dedicated to furthuring the popularity of this underrated tuber plant.

Basically Irish mist is derived from irish whiskey, and is combined with healther, clover honey, herbs, and other spirits per their 1,000 year old "ancient" recipe.  Hush Hush stuff, and all.  It goes well with coffee, vodka, or cranberry juice. I assume you're just looking for an additive to coffee, so I'll just touch on that branch.

Coffee and coffee liquours are darker, and have a burnt flavor.  This flavor goes incredibly well with chocolate.  So that's the preffered dish to go with coffee.  Its not the only dish, though!  Personally , chocolate and strawberries kick backside. so I think anything with strawberries and the distinctive flavor of rhubarb would work well with coffee beverages. so you hit a good one there!

Now on to amaretto mist...Amaretto is almond flavored.  Amaretto Mist is a mix of lime and amaretto, with ice.  Amaretto mist is a drink made from amaretto, not a liquour onto itself.  So in my opinion, knowing amaretto...

Amaretto is a DELICIOUS cordial, and has a sweet, almondy taste.  I think if you mix it with coffee, it will be fantastic.  Put an ounce or two per 6-8oz cut of coffee, depending on how strong you want it. I'd pour into a mug 7oz of strong coffee and an ounce of amaretto.  Serve that with the rhubarb/strawberry pie, and it will be to die for.  Also, you may want to consider a chocolate additive that you can drop into the coffee to accentuate the almond/coffee flavor and give a chocolate taste to blend with the strawberry in the pie.

Torani is a company that specializes in exceptional syrups.  Check this out as an addative for the coffee to give a wonderful chocolate taste:

That's pretty much it.  hehe.  check out torani for further syrups for all needs in flavoring. the company rocks, and  I swear by their line of chocolate syrups for mixed drinks, and for that rich glass of milk and cream flavored with chocolate.

  2. they are both cognacs so i would say it is, just place out some cream to put in it. and that sounds really good. i love strawberry rhubarb pie

  3. My understanding of Irish coffee is that it is coffee spiked with Irish whiskey.  Any fancy liqueur including Irish Mist would be a departure from tradition.  That said, who cares?

The important thing about serving food with a beverage is do they taste good together.  I suggest you mix up some coffee with the additive of your choice and taste it with a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie.  And then taste some with a piece of chocolate cake.   And then take a bite of Boston Cream pie and wash it down with another big swig of Irish-influenced coffee.  And then try some Irish American coffee with some Apple pie and then more coffee and a cinamon roll.  Keep doing that until you find the perfect flavor to enhance your beverage which you can't really legitimately call Irish Coffee but by then you won't care what you call it.
