Does anyone know if an oxygen sensor problem could be in any way related to an issue with a catalytic/catalystic converter? (spelling?)

  1. If the code is for the #2 O2 sensor ( the one behind the converter) then yes, it is most likely telling you that the 1st O2 Sensor & the 2nd O2 Sensor are giving very similar readings so the catalytic converter is probably not doing much anymore and needs to be replaced.

    Good Luck!

  2. Most of the problems are because of the ethanol being added to gasoline.......seems to get worse with older cars.

  3. >>  to an issue with a catalytic/catalystic converter?

    What issue?

    ===

    yes the can be related. But they are NOT always related.  The O2 sensor tells the computer to add or subtract more/less fuel. Too much fuel and the Cat converter will over work (get glowing red hot).  But cat converter can also fail on its own.

    Good Luck...

  4. To give an answer as simple as your question, Yes, they can be related but not always.
