A term in Canada is a maximum of 5 years.For some one to be prime minister for 8 years they would have two terms and would have won two elections.We have had 22 prime ministers so the average time served as prime minister is 6.3 years.You would have to be prime minister for over ten years before you could call it a long time.

  2. yes, a typical term is 4 years. He would have to be reelected to get in for another 4 years. Usually by then, ppl are sick of his lies and get rid of him. Although, Chretien, did 7 years just before the current Harper.
