Is an Airsoft Rifle That Shoots 500 fps... ?

with a .2 gram BB dangerous for a backyard war. I would use .3 gram ammo, and would shoot from 50-200 feet away. Is this a bad idea? By the way, I could use .43 gram bbs if necessary.

First, you shouldn't ever have to use a bb heavier than .28 gram, which is match weight and grade.

but after that said, i would recommend placing a minimum range of 100 feet, because 500 feet per second is a powerful gun, and could hurt someone at a shorter range than 100 feet

Just so you know, if my friend brought out a gun that shoots 500 to a backyard style skirmish, i don't think i would ever play airsoft with him again

Not at all. Unless you take it in the eye. So wear eye protection.

Yes.  Put a weaker spring in that thing before you hurt someone (even if you're trying not to).
