Is an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice worth it?

Former Deputy and Sherriff have told me that im just wasting my time.. I dont need to go to college to be an Officer..

Is this worth it.. is there much difference.. Im confused.

  1. If you have military experience you may not need a college degree.  Most depts these days require a degree.  In my state most are requiring a 4 yr bachelor's degree.  So, YES, it's absolutely worth it if you want to be a police officer.  Plus, you make more money for having higher degrees.  You are also more desirable for detective positions or promotions.  You said they are "former" deputy and sheriff.  Maybe in their time college wasn't required, but times have definitely changed!


  2. An Associate Degree is a good first step to bigger and better things in the future..What if  you change your mind?  Then you'll be able to build on that Associate Degree and take a major where you'll eventually earn a Bachelor's Degree, then Master's Degree, and then a Doctorate Degree...

    Just do what your heart desire's..If you feel you can go without it, then forget about getting the AA.  But you may regret it later...So just go for it.
