Is an FJ Cruiser too much car for a senior in high school heading off to college? Is that better or Frontier?

  1. My brother-in-law says "avoid, avoid!" He has an 8 month old FJ and hates it. He wants to trade it but the hit will be huge. From an owner's mouth, avoid it. There are those blind spots already mentioned and it's also very expensive to maintain and keep fueled. It's more of a toy car.


  2. the FJ has some bad blind spots and poor rear visibility.

    if your needing an "off" road vehicle it's good for that but in traffic and on the Hwy it's not the most practical.

    the Nissan is much less expensive and is better suited to Hwy driving.

    also check your insurance carrier you may find the FJ to be higher than some others

  3. It's only too much if you can't afford it. I'm not talking just the price tag, but also the operational costs. Frontier would be the 'cheaper' choice.
