that is about top %10 or less then the whole population of earth. i know that if you have 170 IQ your in the top %2 of the world.

If you used an online "IQ" test, I would doubt the validity. The online IQ test seemed highly inaccurate, I had scored 120 in grade shool, yet scored 170 once online-lol, I wish .  If it was an actual IQ test administered by counselor/teacher etc.. then 140 is considered well above average. 90-100 average, 100-120 above average and so on...160 is VERY intelligent.  However, unless a person uses it, serves no purpose and anyone can do well with hard work regardless of some test. My bro has very high IQ but was lazy in school, same as me. Some average kids did better scholastically because they worked harder, pure and simple. While we sat back just expecting to pass.. Now, a person with a high IQ who also works hard will do well in life. I believe a person with an IQ of 85 or 90 will do fine if they work hard, and many smart people just hang out complaining about all the stupid people in the world-lol

an IQ of 140 would allow you to become a member of Mensa.. the most intelligent people.. short of geniuses. one needs to have an IQ of 135 or up to become a member you can look up their website on www.mensa.com... and learn more.. my husband was a member he did his test there and scored 142.. anyone can take the test.. but only if one reaches the mid 130's can one become a member.. it is exceptionally high but of course a genius would be someone with an IQ of about 160.. and there are only about 2 % of the population.. in the world who reach that score..No disrespect to Senlin...  it is exceptionally high but Mensa has quite a lot of members.. it is not in the 1 % top ranking IQ charts.. but it is way above average.. My husband is not a genius and he has scored 142 but he is not a person who is amongst the top 1 %.. someone who scores 160 or 170 in a Mensa IQ test.. they are geniuses and they rank in the top 2 % wold wide of all humans on this planet...xx

Considered as crossing the genius border and definitely renders you undatable, especially if female and word circulates even if you don't wear glasses.

About 100 is average, but 140 is high almost outrageously high

A score of 140 would be in the Very Superior range.  So, exceptionally high. (Only about 1% of the population would have a score this high.)

The median IQ in the US is 100 - meaing half the population has one higher, half lower.  The standard deviation of most IQ tests (e.g., WAIS) is 15, meaning that IQ=140 is 2.66 standard deviations above 100 - which would put you just a bit higher than the 99th percentile.  So, it is a very high score.

That being said, this does assume the use of a well-validated IQ (e.g., WAIS, WISC) test.  Online tests don't count.

If you really think you know that 140 is your true iq, then sign up with mensa and take a psychologist admnistered test. then you'll be one ofo the greatest organizations in the world. i have an high iq as well and am taking the mensa test soon

don't trust any IQ tests on the internet, you can take 5 different tests and get all different results.
