Is an Imac Fantasy Cage big enough for a Syrian Hamster?

My son has bought the above cage, but is now crazing to buy the extension as he says it is not big enough. Is it kinder to buy the extension or is the basic cage adequate on its own?

  1. Out of the cages I have seen, and I've seen a lot of them, I would have to say that is one of my favorites. It has more floor space then most, and the upper area is good too.

Even having said this, I would say it is better to buy the extension. Maybe make it a bit of a challenge, like "if you do this chore then I will buy it for you." The hamster will thank you, because they are very active and like things to run in, on, and around.

  2. Yes, your son is right, it is better to buy the extension and give your hamster more space to run around. The bigger the cage, the better.

Well done for buying the Imac Fantasy cage too, it is one of very few adequately sized hamster cages (with an extension) :-)

  3. Well the hamster doesn't need it i.e if you decided not to go for it then it wouldn't die or anything, its fine my hamster lived for 3 years in this cage so i'm sure your sons will to.

But thats not to say the hamster will not enjoy it if its ok with you then go ahead why not but if i was you i'd stick to this cage and just put lots of toys inside such as tunnels and balls, then it has choice of what to play with!

    xgood luckx
