  1. it adds vital oxygen and flow,it can be attached to certain ornaments power by airpumps.

  2. It Can Be Both But It Is More For Keeping The Fish Alive !

  3. Both, there are some air pumps shaped like plants to blend in your tank and make it look more natural; others are simpler and they tend to disrrupt your acuarium.

All air pumps were made with the sole purpose of giving oxygen to your water, don't forget that too much oxygen is bad to your fish and can cause death.

  4. BOTH!!! :D

  5. It does not add oxygen but by stirring the water up it keeps it from getting stale and by doing so adds air from the surface. Also, there are bacteria that live in aerated tanks that convert toxins like ammonia and nitrite from the wastes into nitrate which is much safer for your fish

  6. Aquarium air pump is a device that brings air into the aquarium and it may filtrate the water too. There are many types of air pumps like air stones. You just put the air stone into the aquarium and start the device, which is out of the aquarium. An air pump may have the form of an aquarium ornament like treasure chests, shells, divers and many more. Such aerating devices make bubbles and that is how they aerate the water. Choosing the right air pump is not so difficult. You just have to choose it according to the size of your aquarium and to amount of the plants, because they can stop the bubbles and the aquarium is not fully aerated. But when you are choosing an ornamental aerator, you are choosing it according to that, how do you like it, or which would look best in your aquarium. And if you want to have your tank really good aerated, then you can combine the aerators.

The use of the air pump is really easy. You just do everything what the guide says. Mostly you just take out the air pump from the box, put it into the aquarium and start it. If the air pump is with filter, you have to clean it, because it gets filthy. Aerating stones get filthy too, but it happens less often than air pump with filter. And how does it work? If you have an air pump: the pump gets the air though a little tube and then the pump blows out the air to the water. If you have an aerating stone: the aerating device is out of the water. It pumps the air trough a little tube to the stone on the bottom of the tank which can be long from few centimeters, to any size, but bigger stones need stronger aerators. The stone has many little holes trough the air bubbles came out to the water.

And why aerate the water? It is because fish and plants need air. Fish like humans breath oxygen and convert it into carbon dioxide. In the nature, the substrate at the bottom levels of rivers or creeks, is covered by plants and they create a lot of air, but usually there are not enough plants in an aquarium. The next reason is, that when the water gets aerated, the water moves too and so the toxins move and they can be filtered. And not only toxins, but the fish waste too. If there were no aerator, the fish wastes would settle everywhere in the tank: on the plants, decorations. It would not look good and it is not good for the health of the plants and fish.

On the other hand, there are some issues about the air pumps. For example, in smaller aquariums they are able to create a strong movement of the water and the fish will be like on a merry-go-round all they long. The movement of the water is not good for the fish, which make they nests on the surface. Such fish are bettas, paradise fish and gourami.

Generally, aquarium air pump could mean very nice decoration and useful equipment of your fish tank. It’s ability to create many different types of bubbles, which can look very nice and it’s ability to aerate the water makes it a good subject of your interest. They don’t cost much and they aren’t a heavy energy wasters. Usually, they need only 5 or 10 watt energy source. Bubbles from any aquarium air pump can be illuminated by colourful light source. You will create very unusual decoration which will attract people looking at your fish tank for many hours.

  7. it add oxygen

  8. it adds oxeyen to water

  9. some airpumps are used as decorations but others give oxygen. i have the oxygen one because fishes need to survive with oxygen.

  10. It's for oxygen and therefore keeping your fish alive.

  11. Air pumps are for oxygenating the water and they help keep it clean. Decoration? They aren't particularly beautiful are they?

  12. It adds oxygen to the water.

  13. Definitely can be used for decoration.

It strictly speaking doesn't add oxygen to the water. It forces air through the water that agitates the surface which allows nitrates to be exchanged for oxygen. You would get the same effect constantly stirring the surface with a tea spoon and of course a sore wrist :0)

  14. an air pump produces bubbles that agitate the surface of the water where the CO2/O2 exchange takes place. If you have a filter, depending on the type of filter and the amount of life in your tank that needs oxygen, that may agitate the water surface enough for adequate oxygenation.

  15. It SO adds oxygen.

  16. i'm sorry, but an airpump does NOT add oxygen to the tank, not at all

a filter adds oxgen by sucking up the water from the tank, filtering it and putting back filtered water

which has the oxygen in it

but an airpump is just for the looks of the tank which you can be used with bubblewands and decorations
