Question:

Is an edited version of the Tudors available?

I'm very interested in Tudor history, and I would love to watch the Showtime show The Tudors. However, my parents don't want to let me watch it due to the show's sexual contact (I'm 13.) Is there an edited version of the show available anywhere (online or otherwise)? Something that has everything the real show does except the particularly racy scenes. Will give ten points to best, most accurate answer. Thanks.

  1. Unfortunately I don't think there is an edited version of this series available.

But to be honest, if you're interested in Tudor history, then 'The Tudors' isn't really a great reference point.  The 'history' in this show is shaky at best - it's really just a bodice ripping drama 'based' on historical characters.

There was an excellent mini series on TV a few years ago simply called 'Henry VIII'.  Ray Winstone and Helena Bonham Carter were in it and it was really good - much more accurate than 'The Tudors'.  About two or three years ago there was a four part drama on BBC1 called 'The Virgin Queen' -  it was about Elizabeth I & I can honestly say that it's the best drama about Elizabeth that I've seen.  It's well worth watching if you're interested in that era of history and like 'Henry VIII' it's available to buy on Amazon.  If your parents would allow you to order these DVD's online then they would be a much better purchase than 'The Tudors'.

Here's the links if you want to have a look:
