  1. Yes it is.

Remember, with a couple of exceptions, the numbers always go from west to east, and from south to north. So, if you were northbound, the 52 mile marker would be before or at the 52 exit.

If you were southbound, the 52 exit would come first, then the mile marker.

As a note, the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90) starts its east-west numbering from the east. The Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) exits are not the same as the mile markers.

  2. In some states it is, in others it is not. More and more states are converting to having the exit number match the mile marker. Maine just converted a few years ago, but I know that Mass and New York still have not.

  3. yes they are one and the same in all 48 states

  4. in addition to lonnies answer,  i'm confused , marker 52, 52 miles to what? state line next town or city, 52 miles to what

  5. Curious about the above answers....how does that work???  The mile markers after all, mark mile increments  and exits are not on any set distance pattern...there may be 3 in a row,  spaced adjacent to each other, then no others for miles.   I 've lived in 7 different states and haven't seen the exit and mile marker match except by chance.   Where is point A that begins the mile marker count??  Velly interesting.

  6. yes in most states, some(very few) still go by how many exits there are, there a still a couple that you may be at MM252 and exit 34
