I'm older and don't quite know the difference. I saw a mp player by onyx that was on sale for 50 and holds 1000 songs. But i don't know what the heck I'm doing.

  1. that is a mcuh better deal...get it

  2. iPods are mp3 players, iPod is just what Apple calls their mp3 product line.  The player that holds 1000 for 50 sounds like a very good deal.

  3. I have had both a mp3 and an ipod. Ipod is much better.

    =]

  4. well if you want 2 get one with more quality then u defintitly need an ipod take it from me that mp3 or 4 players arent the best but there are different types of ipods to like ipod touch is all operated by your fingers ipod nanos are not touch sensored  but they can hold songs games and videos oh and pictures theres an ipod classic which is a bigger version of an ipod nano but it the same besides the fact that it holds more an mp4 player can do the same stuff its just it not as good quality and it breaks easier if u want to look at more ipods go and google it. hope I could help

  5. iPods, Zunes, iRivers, Onyx, etc. are all MP3 players - they're just built a bit differently, have different displays, and use different programs to put songs on them.

The only real difference you should pay attention to when buying an MP3 player is how it works - is it a spinning hard drive, or is it a non-moving hard drive inside? When information is written to iPods, it can either be written to a spinning disk (much like how information is written to your computer's hard drive) or it can be stored in a solid state (much like how information is stored onto thumb drives, if you've ever come across one).

If you buy an MP3 player with a spinning disk inside, it's not meant to be wiggled around or thrown anywhere - that makes the disk skip, and could damage your MP3 player. If you want to jog with music, I would recommend getting a solid-state player so you don't run that risk.

Another confusing thing is gigabytes (GB). A song tends to take up about 5MB (megabytes) of space nowadays, maybe even up to 7MB. There are 1,000 MB in a GB. So if you buy a 4GB iPod, you're buying space for about 800 songs. That should give you an idea of how much those 160GB iPods are holding!

As for the difference between all the MP3 players, right now the iPod, the Zune and the iRiver are holding the market as most reliable. Any of those three will certainly last you for years. But feel free to check out any of the other MP3 players, and ask the "little store helpers" what they think.

Best of luck on getting your MP3 player! :)

  6. Well, it's an MP3 player, refering to the type of music it plays (.mp3 music files)

An iPod is technically an MP3 player itself, and they all do the same thing (Play music). About the only benefit to an iPod is how much music it physically stores, it has a lot of storage space. But if you don't want to put a LOT of music on it, get the other MP3 player you're talking about, thats actually a very good deal.

  7. An iPod is a pretty safe bet but all these devices are pretty similar. I have a SanDisk mp4 and I am very pleased with it. I've had it for about a year with no trouble and it's very easy to use. Here it is:

  8. ipods are much better

    mp3 players only hold songs

ipods have videos movies tv shows podcasts pictures

    some even have internet

  9. Ipods are just basically MP3 players exept Ipods are better. They have a lot more features than just normal MP3 players. What's great is that Ipods are made from apple; and apple is a very good electronics company. It also depends on the model. Some ipods can store videos, some cannot. I would prefer the Ipod Touch. That is the one I have. It is a full touch screen ipod. It has Internet, a calender, email(best email i have seen on a hand held device; I love it), Contacts feature which allows you to add and store contacts, youtube(allows you to watch videos from the youtube website), stocks(lets you check the stocks of major corporations like apple for example), Maps(Tells you your current location, gives you directions to a specific destination, etc), Weather(lets you check the weather of any location), a clock to check time, and time from around the world, a calculator(also turns into a scientific calculator when switched horizontally) (BTW; yes you could turn your ipod sideways to turn it into landscape allowing you to watch videos in widescreen). Has a notes feature so you could keep track of a to-do list or anything you want, Itunes store(lets you download music straight from your ipod touch instead of using your computer just in case you arent anyway near your computer), videos(lets you store movies, TV shows etc.), holds photos, and obviously allows you to store and listen to music. Get the Ipod touch, i could not be any happier with my purchase of the ipod touch.
