Question:

Is an oil temperature light something to worry about?

I was driving today and my oil temp light came on, and my engine temp gage was all the way at H(hot) for a few moments, and after it went down a bit it was still higher than usual. Will it be okay for a few days until I can get it looked at in a few days, or is this something to be really concerned about?

  1. I would get it checked pretty quick, or you engine could overheat. Then you'd breakdown.

  2. Yes it telling you it having a bad day &  issues>Get checked or you will be walking>$$$

  3. that could be indicating that the oil pump may be going out on it,or the sensor is going bad,you need to take it by any auto zone, and have it scanned, this will probably give you a code for what caused the problem, then you,ll have something to work with, without having it done you wont know for sure,i would be concerned about this though anytime that light comes on its something to be concerned about, good luck.

  4. oil temperature?  Sure it is not oil preasure and water temperature?  I would at least when it is cooled down check your water level and oil level.  If there is something more wrong driving it more will only make it worse.

  5. Check your oil, make sure it isnt low. and check coolant and trans fluid while you re at it

  6. Be worried about driving it...overheating and oil pressure issues can cause engine seizure...Have it looked at asap before you blow that motor
