  1. In many countries, cruelty to animals is illegal, but the law is ambiguous on what it considers animal cruelty. If you deliberately kick a dog for no reason, it is considered animal cruelty and is against the law. However, if you work in a lab and give that same dog lethal doses of poisonous chemicals, or infect it with diseases, or blind it whilst testing out a new shampoo, it is perfectly legal, despite being unquestionably cruel. The thinking here is that 'the end justifies the means'.

Personally I am against all forms of animal cruelty. Animal testing is not only barbaric, it is unscientific - animals react differently to humans to many substances, rendering many tests pointless. For example, a contraceptive was once developed which was tested on rats. It worked as intended, and was given to humans. However, it had the opposite effect on women, actually increasing their fertility!

  2. Cruelty is illegal. Testing is not only legal but often critical. Would you like to be the first recipient of a vaccine (look up the origin of that word) that had been tested only with a computer? Or to hold stock in a company that tried something that stupid? If you worked for the FDA, would you approve it?

  3. Animal cruelty is illegal. Animal testing is not. Testing using animals is very carefully regulated.

  4. Animal cruelty is definitely illegal. People beat, torture and kill innocent animals every day. There is also bull, ****, and dog fighting to go along with the madness. Did you know that dogs can get sunburned? Yep, it’s true. So when it’s hot, be sure that your dog has lots of fresh water to drink and isn’t out in the sun for too long because not only can dogs get sunburned, they can also suffer from heat strokes. Remember, they’re wearing fur coats in the summertime! And never ever leave your dog in the car when it’s even the least bit warm outside (again, think fur coat) because the heat inside a parked car can cause a dog to suffer brain damage and die in less then 10 minutes, even with the windows down! Even with these warnings, some people do it on purpose. Animal testing should, but is not, illegal. Large companies like Iams, KFC, Donna Kapan, and Petsmart test products on animal. Sometimes it kills them and they don't even care.Did you know that millions of animals are poisoned, blinded, and killed each year in cruel experiments so that companies can test their personal care products? It’s true! Animals are suffering right now for things like cosmetics, shampoo and conditioner, cleaners, and other household items. But here’s something that we’ll bet you didn’t know: Those tests are NOT required by law.
