Question:

Is another Great Depression in our future?

With

-Many corporations outsourcing our productivity to other nations to save money on labor

-Gas prices exceeding $7 per gallon before the end of the year

-The bottom falling out of the housing market with history making forclosures

-Food prices skyrocketing due to history making rising fuel/shipping costs and higher costs in corn prices for the production of ethanol.

No one wants to spend money.

Many people in this area have bought houses here (and those that were lucky enough to avoid a forclosure as of yet), because they cannot afford where they work (Bay Area) now they soon will not be able to afford the commute.

With layoffs and hiring freezes and big box corporations such as Linen's n' Thing's and Pier 1 closing stores (to name a couple retail stores)....

How can we ever recover?

The Great Depression ended with the productivity brought with WWII and Public Works Projects.

We are already in a war, and no such programs are being initiated.

I think you are right about a depression but I think it will be much worse than "The Great Depression". This will be called "The Granddaddy of all Depressions".
