Is any graphics card compatible with any mother board?

As long as the motherboard supports the graphics cards interface? For example, an EVGA 132-CK-NF78-A1 780i with an HD 4850? Thanks everyone!

  1. If it has PCI x16 slots, it supports PCI x16 graphics cards. That's a PCI x16 board (It has 3 PCI x16 slots available), and that's a PCI x16 graphics card :P

    EDIT: Ignore Matt below; AGP has been redundant for a long time, new graphics cards are all PCI x16, as is the case with the HD 4850.


  2. that card is not compatible with that board as the board does not have the AGP port needed. but any card with PCI Express, PCI 16 or PCI plugs will fit the board.
