  1. Moderation is the thing.  +1 for 2,3,4,5,6.....-1 for 10,J,Q,K,A.  The house will be alerted when you raise your bet substantially on the best chances for a 21.  They teach and re-brief the dealers on this activity constantly.  If you just win a little every now and again they leave you alone, because they would promote that amount, or comp you that if it were necessary to keep you coming.  If you make $1,000 from doing this, they will know and burst your bubble.  Card knowledge will give an ever so slight edge.  Stupid people at the table will take it away.  Don't go to the casino and use it until you can consistently count through a deck and come up with 0.  A big bet on the last hand of a deck dealt to the bottom can be cool, and could be almost guaranteed.

  2. it is mostly a matter of practice. Most people have memorised the times table, learning to card count is no less hard. It just requires hours and hours of practice and memorization. Eventually the groups of cards will come to an automatic count.

Try practising on a single deck by yourself, count the full deck down. You should end up with zero at the end (10-ace = -1 & 2-6 =+1). Keep practising until you can coutn down a deck in under a minute.

Remember, you need to also have basic strategy down pat. or at least to a high degree. You need to be playing at least at 98% perfectly. That is, not making basic strategy mistakes more than 2% of the time.

  3. i take it you mean anyone as in anyone who isn't an MIT student rather then anyone on this site? if so then yes anyone can do it (excluding absolute idiots of course)you just have to put in the time and effort to learn the basic strategy and how to keep a running count and then doing this in a live setting with noises distractions eyes watching etc.

  4. Absolutely. YES

Several MIT students have already done it.  Rumors are, some still do!

Read or Look up the book "Bringing Down the House".

  5. Yes, anyone can learn to count cards, it is a simple addition and subtraction process where each card is given a plus, minus or zero value. It takes practice, is NOT illegal, and if you get good, you turn the odds to your favor slightly. But if any casino suspects you are doing it, you will be tossed out and barred from returning.

  6. just pay attention

  7. yes.

  8. Counting cards is not a difficult process, you only need be able to perform simple addition, subtraction, and some division in your head, being a good multitasker helps too.

I have a "knack" for it it seems,  while i have met some peopel that have tryign to learn ti for a long time and have given up because they just cant stay focused or count the cards fast enough in real play.

In general YES ther are peopel smart enough because i do so i am at least one person, also i talk to several people on the wbe that do as well.
