You will hear of a lot of people who claim to have found this work and are making a fortune. The only way they really make money is by getting others to pay them to find work - not by actual work.

There are data entry jobs available, but they are generally only available very locally. The pace of business today prohibits the type of data entry you remember from years back. However, there are always businesses which need to take analog data (maybe handwritten job applications, for example) and turn them into computer entries. Even with optical character recognition, there is still a need to data enter or verify what the system read. Occasionally, this work can be done from home once you've proven yourself with the employer.

Look for evening shifts for data entry (often found thru temp agencies) and once you've built a reputation, see if their servers can be accessed remotely so you could work from home. I think more and more of these jobs will be done at home, but they will extremely short time-lines, what comes in today needs to be in the system tonight, for example, with none of the flexibility you remember.

1. freelance writing jobs, these consist of writing articles, blog, content, web content, ghost writing, technical writing. Most of these jobs are freelance basis and plenty of jobs are available around.

2. your own website/blog and earn from google adsense. It will take some time and hard work, but rewards are great and long lasting.

3. transcription job from home.

4. completing projects available on online marketplace like guru.com or getafreelancer.com

5. proofreading and editing written content

There are programs and sites out there that are legit and will allow you to make money without spending any money upfront but they don't pay out very much.  

You can always start your own blog and start by being an affiliate marketer which basically means you sell other people's products and get a commission for it.  It's not easy but once you get the hang of it, the payoff is pretty good.

You could Test Products at home and give your opinion on them back to the company, in some case you even get to keep the product.

You can do online paid surveys which pay quite well if you join as many sites as possible.

You could look at writing product reviews and getting paid for that.

All you need to do is give your experience with them and an honest opinion.

The systems work by basically rewarding you for your review, if its a good review and readers like it they give you a grading, the better the grading the more points you get, the more points you get the more you convert to cash.

If you join more than one of these product review companies then you can just copy and paste your reviews between companies and double or triple what you earn.

The good thing is, that you're reviews never get cut off, so you can keep earning from your older reviews as long as they are still relevant.

You're not going to earn a small fortune from this but you could earn a nice little bit extra.

All you need is access to a PC, and there are no joining fees and therefore no catches. You may have to do a bit of work getting setup as the surveys have to be matched to your profile. These can take about half an hour per company to do. But once set up they come through pretty regularly, and enough to keep you in plenty of work.

Its free and you get $10 just for sign up, but its a not the quickest turnover in emails etc, so is certainly not a get rich quick scheme, more of a "have it run in the background" type thing and see what comes of it.

I would say this depends on how much money you are looking to make? If you are only looking to make a few extra dollars but doing a lot of work, surveys would be the way to go. (I know because i tried several different sites) I spent a lot of time researching and trying different home businesses and jobs. I found that with many of the jobs I was doing a lot of work for very little pay. I needed a actual income so I began to focus on businesses. This has now allowed me to stay home full time. Though most businesses require a initial investment, it is worth it if you find the right business. Email me if you would like more info. I would love to help!
