  1. It's ridiculous to think that's happening.  But no, I'm not afrraid of public schools.  That's extreme for something dumb like this.

  2. No, if I ever have kids they'll be in public school. That may be stupid of that teacher, but it wouldn't stop me from putting my kids in public school.

  3. School is not a reality show! That is disgusting.  I agree, the teacher should be fired and blacklisted.

  4. That poor little boy!   I wouldn't treat a disruptive 20 year old that way.

  5. Yes that teacher my be stupid but public shcool will make your child more well rounded

  6. that teacher is scum. it takes a really big person to pick on a little boy with aspergers syndrome. public schools are the pits.

  7. You aren't as likely to as safe from teachers in a private school either. They typically aren't paid as well as teachers in public schools and since these schools are private, they aren't required to meet certain requirements. I've heard horror stories of s*x offenders teaching in private schools.

  8. Apparerently, Baba Yaga got herself a one way ticket to Moronville.

Or maybe you just forgot the obligatory gender-neutral disclaimer.  Shame on you then.

  9. Uh, ONE teacher humiliated this child, therefore EVERY child faces this in school?

Do you have any idea how many kids are in public school?

People focus on this ONE case, and fear sending their kids to school; then put them in the car and DRIVE -- which kills a LOT more than one kid every year.

We don't yet know the upshot of this case.

  10. that is so very crazy. can't believe this doesn't fall under emotional abuse. that woman should lose her job, esp. since teachers have been losing them for much less recently....

@DSDS- aspergers is high-functioning autism. the kid didn't need a special class. he needed a more understanding teacher.

  11. That poor baby. Rejected by the very people that are to love, teach and protect him. I bet that teacher is the biggest bully on the playground.

One of the many reasons I believe in home education.

  12. what id like to know is what is it that is protecting this nasty teacher. the whole school district at this point should be facing a law suet for not taking action. this women  should be not only fired in my opinion but jailed as well. what abuse could be more horrible then to have a whole class bring you down emotionally and fill like you are worthless. as if this child does not have hard enough time already with out this. do you realize the social separation that is caused by his disorder in the first place. this is more then just a out rage it is down right criminal.

  13. I'm afraid of public schools for other reasons.  I would consider this likely to be an isolated incident.

  14. I saw this story this morning on the news. I am interested to see how it plays out and think the teacher should be forced to resign.

No kids, but have often wondered if public schools are the best choice, for reasons like this and others.

  15. They are talking about if you pull your child out in Oregon to go to a private school they will sue you for the federal funding that the school will miss out on. It's all about teachers paychecks and retirement.

  16. Changed as promised.  You're right.

Loveshark:  I'll have plenty of company with you and your friends there, although I can do better.

  17. Tens of millions of kids do just fine in public school. This kid's experience is obviously the exception not the rule.   Live in a school district with excellent schools and be an involved parent.  If you are an involved parent you have no worries.

  18. I am not afraid to put my children in public school, so much as I realize it is kind of pointless to do so if I want them to get a proper education.  Home schooling is far superior for the most part.
