"They want the best-looking people to represent the face of China. I don’t blame the organizers for picking a prettier-looking kid over the not-so-pretty one,” said Xia Xiaotao, 30, an enginee.

Okay, I want to shoot this guy -__-!!

China is screwed up, a 7 year old that is talented and is a really good singer isn't pretty enough to be seen as the real singer because she has a chubby face and has crooked face??

Shes SEVEN! Who gives a flip if she is chubby [baby fat] or if she has crooked teeth, nobody is freaking perfect!

They wonder why the h**l people had a world-protest of the Olympic's being held in China, its because they are freaking pathetic! I love the Chinese culture, but if this is the way they are going to deal with things like this, telling a SEVEN YEAR OLD she is not PRETTY enough to be seen in public as a singer then they are seriously screwed up in the head! Even the fireworks were fake if you were watching it from home.

[computer generated]

They want a "perfect" round of Summer Games, and to THEM its telling a little girl she isn't GOOD ENOUGH to be on TV. Her voice is beautiful, but they don't THINK she is. They want only their "perfect" little kids on camera.

What the h**l is the world coming to?

Dang people....

Anyways, do u agree with me?

p.s I know they said the 7-year old wasn't "sutible" but that is just as bad as saying "your ugly"

  1. I agree, with the billions of chinese to choose from they couldn't find one that was the whole package. They had to take a poor child, steal her talent and then hide her away because she wasn't pretty enough. People are jerks, but I'm sure people watching were not going to judge a 7 year old on her looks! Her appearence wouldn't even had crossed my mind, because she's 7!

  2. China is a completely different culture than the US.  Everything is different.  You CANNOT judge them based on your standards.

  3. No. If you found out the facts first you might not be so mad. The girl who sang the song was never intended to be the girl on stage. She knew it all along. She was proud that her voice was used. She understood the whole situation and was all right with it. Why be so mad? The US does stuff like that all the time. Everyone does.

  4. Um...and what do you think of the US with their baby beauty pageants?

Where do you suppose they got the idea that little kids have to be perfect to be pretty??

  5. kids are almost always adorable...

  6. Well let's face it, most asians aren't good looking. And good looking people make everything better in most people's opinion.

  7. yah, that infuriated me too.  the point of being a musician (keyword: musician, a "pop star" is NOT a musician 95% of the time), an athlete, etc. is you don't rely solely on your good looks to accomplish something, you are gifted with a talent &/or develop a skill that not everyone can do!  the Chinese got it bass ackwards, & this is a ridiculous look on how superficial their society is (as if it wasn't bad enough here), & just the society of the world in general.  although having funky teeth never hurt Jewel's career...

  8. China must be going crazy trying to impress the world

  9. yea thats jacked up,id sue the **** out of them all for my kid.

its going to give the poor girl a complex and its just mean.

  10. Yeah I read that......poor little thing. I hope this doesn't affect her too much. I hope she doesn't grow up with self-esteem issues because of this. I thought the little girl was adorable..
