  1. I am insanely happy~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ federer got what he dreamed of gold medal. now US open to Federer!!! Silver medal to nadal.

  2. Federer might just shift to doubles and kill like he did in singles.

  3. I am a Nadal fan. That said, I really wanted Roger to take the gold in the singles. When that was gone, I really, really, really wanted him to take the gold in the doubles and he did! I was more excited and nervous about his match than the Williams sisters (whom I adore).

Great win for Roger! Hopefully, this is a turnaround going into the US Open. Maybe, he will now truly relax and simply enjoy the game he obviously loves so much---tennis.

Hey, nothing beats Roger vs. Rafa in a final!

  4. YES!!!! fed was sooo happy and i love stan they deserved it! Fed will have some confidence now I think! And it showed he still loves tennis! and look what he can do with no pressure!! YAYAYAY

  5. Yes, and I was relieved they won.  I have been following Federer's doubles matches during the games, especially after he lost his singles match.  And from that point on, I was excited but I could not believe that those two were moving through the doubles field, beating top doubles players such as the Bryan brothers.  It looks like Federer and Wawrinka were savouring the Olympic experience and their wins, because it was a change from the tour. They were having fun.

I know Federer cared about the doubles since this was not a regular tour tournament and it was the Olympics, but I think that after he was upset by Blake, this fired him up even more.  I actually think Federer was even grateful that he still had another path to turn to for a medal, which was doubles.  You can see this in his emotions and body language.  With Federer's known humility, thankfulness and passion, this it's a sure thing he felt so much.  He was also enjoying himself on the court, probably because of the Olympic experience being so different than the tour, and for being thankful he still had another chance.  With each doubles match he started to realize he is blessed with another route to possibly win a gold medal of his own. He did.

This was a great achievement and a special one because of the circumstance.  Federer winning Olympic gold is just one, but consider that a No.1 played doubles at the Olympics and this is already remarkable because it is rare - and a No.1 player won the gold.  Also, the reality is that Federer won an Olympic gold before Nadal, and Nadal's isn't even certain yet.  He still has to play his final.  Doubles or singles - an Olympic title and gold is a gold.  Sampras - whom he is always compared to in terms of records, he never won a gold or any Olympic medal.  I think this win and experience will help him heal and help him in his tennis career and for the rest of the year.
