Is anybody else sick of the glorification of crime and underworld activities in movies?

Why does the government allow such programs to be seen by the public? More to the point, why do they help fund such productions? Whilst I am refering to ALL movies that fit into this category I will use Underbelly as an example. Why are people sending fan mail to Carl Williams in his jail cell? People are actually that easilly influenced that they send fan mail to a murderer and drug dealer (that has ruined many more lives indirectly) that has been glorified in a TV series that was loseley based on a true story.

I am as sick of those as I am relationship movies or movies about a bunch of know it all, stuck up, s*x starved high school kids in some goofy competition and movies with teenagers getting hacked up by some mental case.

First of all, the government should stay out of it.  What we are "Allowed" to watch...The founding fathers pretty much covered that one with the first amendment.

  That being said, I think that this is just a broader case of the thing that attracts "good" women to "bad boy" types.  It's something that is outside their everyday scope of experience, yet close enough that they do have some identification with it.  It allows for escapism, where you can "hang out" with the more extreme elements of society...then go to bed in your safe warm house, and live your comfortable life, all the while "knowing" how the other side lives.

People keep buying it.

The movies I am not so concerned with.

its basic human instinct , to harm others and its a sort of fantasy especially with men , who enjoy playing tyrant and being powerful.

people watch dem kind of movies for entertainment and just so they can escape from their unfulfilling,boring,tedious,helpless lifes. its just like playing those real life games its an act of escapism from the person you really are.

i personally dont believe they should censor it if they do then people will go out of their way to gain access to those programs. and also the movies also give the people fear and make people less likely to carry out hose acts when they see the consequences.
