quickest in the first practice and Jimmie Johnson was 2nd quick? I would expect Jeff Gordon to be towards the top of the speed charts, he was 3rd, but the other 2 caught me a little of guard. Not even so much the Marcos was fast but Jimmie being up there was a pleasant surpirse.

  1. I was shocked. Who knows maybe Wood Brothers Racing might pick up a win this weekend.

  2. He ws in qualifying trim the whole practice being a go or go home driver so he had more chances to make a great qualifying run than the others. I want to see if he's that fast in race trim and with only one chance at quilifying. Jimmie doesn't shock me but do you remember when he hit the rabbit in 2003 here?

  3. I agree, I didn't even know he was racing the cup series this week? Hey, Jimmie must have gotten them tips down ole Mr. Gordon gave him!! I figured he couldn't be on the outside looking in for very long! Thinking this is the week the #24 gets to victory lane!!

  4. Yes, I am surprised that Jimmie was 2nd quickest. This will be a very interesting race. Go Jeff and Jimmie!

  5. Watch Ambrose turn some heads this weekend!!

and if it wasnt for R Gordon being a stubborn brat he would of had a win already in the Nationwide?Busch series

  6. I was very pleasantly surprised about Jimmie. I think the commentators were too. Looking forward to qualifying here in another hour.

As for Ambrose, it is surprising as well. I would have never picked him for the fastest in practice.

  7. good for ambrose and im more suprised at jimmy but, starting in front and stayin up front will be 2 diff things sunday...i think jj will make a mistake and ambrose will finish ahead of him but jeff will be up there too

  8. Jimmie was a big surprise.  Jeff certainly did well, himself.  I would like to see Ambrose win it, but looks like Jimmie is gonna give him a run for his $$$$$...Jeff too!  I am just watching Jr. go backwards on the line-up, since he qualified 1st, and not very fast, everyone is topping his speed.

    Go Jr.>>>>

  9. Ambrose rocks! He better just stay out of Boris' way though (see Mexico for reference). I somehow suspect that when he was racing the Super *s or whatever they were is Kiwi-land he ran a lot of road courses.

I think they need to give ol' Marcos that rid full time Elliott's history and Jon Wood isn't even that good in a truck!

  10. I never thought of Jimmie as a "road course racer" so, yeah, it surprised me. Ambrose and Gordon, not so much, (especially Gordon)  hmmm....does Jimmie got something you're not sharing??
