  1. I never knew that there was a musical about Autism.

I am a parent of an adult child with Autism and Mental Retardation. It has been an interesting journey for me in having a child with Autism and Mental Retardation.

  2. no im not.

  3. Wow what a fantastic idea, I am in Aussie but if it is played on our T.V stations I will certainly watch it, (like most American shows it will eventually be aired on our T.V stations) but I am considering ordering the DVD.

The musical follows the lives of 5 children with Autism and their families over a 6 month period, showing the ups and downs of the family life, and the creative side of the children.

It sounds as if it maybe very insightful, and well worth the watch.

  4. I didn't even know there was a musical about autism. I don't think I would watch it any way as autism is such a vast subject and they would not be able to cover the whole condition in a musical. There are thousands of web sites and support groups dedicated to ASD's. Having a child with an autistic spectrum disorder can be extremely hard work and very frustrating as they don't have the same out look on life as the rest of us. It can also be very interesting because they see things differently and will very often give you a new take on different situations. I have a child with autism and a parent who has autism and would not change them.

  5. I watched tonight. I have a 4yr. old son with autism. This might sound crazy but when I found out there was a little relief. Not that there was something wrong  with my child that there was a name for what I was going through. Others may say I thought I was the only one that understood what I was going through, but at the time I was! People would just look at me like can't you control your son or what's wrong with him. I just kept telling myself that this is just him and who he is. He is really smart. Can play on a computer better than most adults and almost knows every animal. He knows most of his abc's and can count to 10. So as a fisrt time mother I was clueless to a learning disability until he turned 3( or not progressed from 3-4). I really unstand the part of the movie when one mother said that she wanted her daught to be valued! Treaeted as anyone else. It's hard as we as people tend to pick out flaws or negatives of thers. My main concern is a real definition of autism and what can be done. As soon as he was diagnosed all I could think about is  the next step. What am I going to do? What can I do? Doctors? Therapies? How do I discipline him? When is being bad or is it the disorder? How can he grow up and take care of himself? Not all of my questions are answered and some may never. ....
