  1. Chuck Norris

1 - He doesn't use drugs like Lee (apparently) did.

    2 - Aspirin doesn't kill him.

3 - He is still alive, so he has Lee on that.

  2. A recent issue of "Black Belt" magazine was devoted to Bruce Lee (born Li Jun-Faan and called Li Sai-Lung in Hong Kong movies). As Joe Lewis pointed out in that issue, Bruce Lee never competed in any full-contact bouts, so he was only an actor. His real ability is thus a subject of speculation. It is a sure bet that many men in history have been much better than Bruce was. Some are men you never heard of. Oyama Masutatsu popularized karate in the 1950's,and he could easily beat Bruce, if both men were in their prime. Mas killed a bull with his bare hands. Wang Hsu-Chin of China was a great martial artist that amateurs never heard of. Karate masters broke their hands on his hard body. The master of Toad style in the 5 Venoms becomes invulnerable, and Wang Sifu and I achieved a great degree of that. Bruce Lee would only hurt his hands and feet striking a Toad master. Bruce was only 5'-6" his cousin said and weighed 135# in top shape (125-150 at times and even 165 when bodybuilding), so there is no way he could beat men much bigger and stronger. Many wild tales have been told about Bruce, so many men see only the legend and have no idea what the real Bruce was like. Some think Achilles was a real man in the 1194-1184BCE Trojan war, but he was not really 13.5 feet tall and 2300#. One sees how tales grow ever more fantastic about a man who becomes a legend. By the time Bruce has been around as long as Achilles, he may be 13.5' tall too. Bruce would not give Oyama Sensei or Wang Sifu a decent workout.

  3. When it comes to martial artists, I also include the deceased.  Of these, I would say Miyamoto Musashi.  At least 60 duels to the death are recorded.  Obviously, if he fought sixty, then he survived sixty.  This was all before he was 30.  He participated in 6 battles, such as Sekigahara in 1600, Osaka Castle in 1615, as well as the Shimabara Rebellion.  These were battles in which he is known to have left great bloodbaths in his wake.  Those were back when the Martial arts were a matter of life and death, not making movies.

Granted, I have great respect for Bruce Lee, I admire him as a martial artist, Philosopher and actor.  But he was not a warrior.  To that, I look to Miyamoto Musashi.

  4. Personally, as for screen martial artists, I prefer Jet Li, as a Chinese Martial Arts student, he really amazes me.

As real martial artist go, there are so many, some alive, some dead, as they were all warriors who died either on a battlefield or training others to do real combat.

Imi Lichtenfield (Krav Maga), V.S. Oschepkov and V. Sporodonov(Combat SAMBO), Roy Boehm (US Navy, ST 1), Richard Marcinko ( USN, ST 6 founder).  Moni Aizik ( Sayaret Maktal, Commando Krav Maga).

These men are the real deal, warriors, not movie stars or octagon fighters.

  5. There is no one better than him!

  6. There have been many Martial artists who had much more knowledge then bruce Lee. he trained for maybe 20-21 years altogether. that is a drop in the bucket compared to many masters.

    Funikoshi

    Myagi

    Shimibuku

    Omaya

    motabu

    kyan

    Just to name a few.

Edit- LMAO @ Jack D who doesn't know jack lol.

  7. Jackie Chan would use Bruce Lee as a broom to sweep his dojo.

  8. Yeah man there are several any mixed martial arts fighter and anyone with the last name Gracie!Welcome back to 1993 bro!

  9. jet li

  10. The Gracie family has a long history of great fighters who proved it anyone who was willing to accept the challenge. Grand Master Helio Gracie was a great fighter, his sons Rorion, Rickson, Relson, and Royce all proved they were among the best of their time.

Rorion Gracie is a personal favorite of mine because he beat huge names in no holds barred matches. Very few in the history of martial arts have challenged themselves as much as the Gracie family. In fact, no one. History proves this.

I respect Bruce Lee for his skill and the development of his system, but he never proved it against anyone of a high caliber. He would not last 20 seconds against Rorion Gracie and his brothers.

  11. Sometimes I think the only person who thought BRUCE LEE wasn't the ultimate unbeatable fighter in the world was bruce lee himself.

And he said so several times and he wasn't just being humble.

BRUCE LEE and HUMBLE dont go together.

  12. Bruce was primarily an actor for most of his life. He did some great theoretical work on Martial arts and was in fantastic shape. BUT, he was not a fighter.

I would say that 60% of the lightweights in the UFC would destroy Bruce if he just dropped out of the sky with all of the knowledge and skills he had the day before he died.

Given a couple of years to catch up on modern training methods and techniques he could very well be one of the top 10 lightweights, but many current athletes are better FIGHTERS than Bruce was.

If you mean has anyone made a bigger contribution to Martial Arts, then I would say Jigoro Kano, and Helio Gracieare both right up there at the top with him.

  13. Now let me think. Bruce Lee is dead. Out of all the ppl in the world you're suggesting Bruce Lee was the best? Have you seen and met every single martial artist in the world? Nope. didn't think so.

This 'best fighter in the world' title is just as ridiculous as the most beautiful woman in the world.

This guy is pretty good though.

  14. I think that what Bruce Lee contributed to the martial arts is of greater significance than whether or not Bruce was the best fighter in the world. It's interesting when we talk about who the world's greatest fighter is, because there is always someone better waiting to de-throne them. I like to think of Bruce as a teacher and innovator as opposed to him being the greatest fighter who ever lived, which we will never know. For all we know, someone in ancient Mongolia may have been the greatest fighter ever, so it's simply unknowable as to who the best fighter was.
