I am so confused. I've been sitting here for a couple hours trying to figure out how to travel from St. Cloud MN to the nearest I can get to Branson MO with Amtrak. Round trip, towards the end of May (like 30 or 31st) and come back to St. Cloud about a week later ( the exact days aren't too important).

I've never done this booking stuff before and it's very confusing. Can someone help me???

  1. It looks like the closest you can get to Branson is Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, about 150 miles away.

  2. I'll help you ... give a couple of minutes, we have to check the MO maps first. And to the other guy, a person that works for amtrak would be an expert in it!!!!

So far I know you need to stop in Washington , MO ( the closest station to Branson) although St. Louis is bigger so you'll have more alternatives for the trip to Branson.$212round trip . 16hrs. 1 stop in chicago each way.  Here is the schedule .:

Here is a flight alternative since after all the buses fairs , you'll be spending the same amount of $

via plane: $345 (round trip- to springfield.)

  3. Sometimes their route finder is a little wacky.  Just find the trains that run in your states, and look at hteir schedules and organize it yourself.

Fear not the layover in Chicago; you're downtown and there are many cool things to do.  The station is 2 blocks west of the Sears Tower.

  4. Why don't you just rent a car in St. Cloud instead of all the hassle. It is only a 7 hour drive from St. Cloud

  5. I can't help.  Sorry.

I just wanted the opportunity to tell "Did He Just" he's a moron.

  6. there is no station for branson so i said st louis i started it off for you with the first link, but i only reserved 1 spot for a passenger you can also go to the amtrak station and buy them there which may be easier in your case.

  7. Call 1 (800) USA RAIL that is the number for Amtrak information. They will have all the information you will need.

  8. The closest you can get to Branson, MO is St. Louis. The only passenger rail service Branson has is a tourist railroad that operates for short distances out of the old Missouri Pacific depot.  You would take a train named the Empire Builder out of St Cloud to Chicago Union Station.  You would have aprox. 2 hour layover there and catch train 305 to St. Louis.   The fare seems to be $212.00 round trip.  A Greyhound bus leaves St. Louis at aprox 3AM for Branson.  I would reccomend renting a car in St. Louis, though.  It's aprox. 4 hours to Branson via I-44 to Springfield and then US-65 south from there.  Call 800-USARAIL to book your train trip or go to www.amtrak.com
