Is anyone aware of any programs in the Canton, Ohio area for preschool/K children with behavioral problems?

My nephew has been diagnosed with ADHD and he is on medication, but it doesn't help him at all. He has been kicked out two daycares and will be starting school in the fall. He has emotional problems and a useless psychologist. We have had a difficult time finding any helpful programs in our area. Any assistance would be great.

sorry, I am here in Akron and I can tell you all programs are full in this area. Canton may be different, but it takes time to get a child in a program. I referred kids back in September and they just started in the behavioral preschool ! Contact your local school district, they are to provide testing services for your nephew. this is the best I can offer you! and there are a ton of 'junk' psychologists out there. Is there a local child guidance agency that can help? Try Head Start for preschool, they are probably best at offering help now. If income doesn't get you in, you may be able to get him in under a disability. (then income does not apply).

You should look into the agency who provides early childhood special education services in your area.  These programs are in every community in the country because Federal Law says that we must serve kids 3-5 years old who have special needs.  In Canton, it may be the local school district, the dept of human services, or some other agency that provides these services but they are there and if your child qualifies, he will get the help he needs.  Start by calling the Canton school district and ask who to call to get 'early childhood special education' services or 'early intervention'.  Good luck.
