They charge a fortune but all we get are commercials and the same old movies over and over again. I'm mad as h**l and I'm not gonna take it anymore!! How about you?

  1. I don't have cable or dish TV.  I have looked over the listings and saw the same stuff repeated over and over and decided it just wasn't worth the money.  I will not pay for a few good channels that might be viewed maybe an hour a day.  Perhaps if more people would cancel their subscriptions and get away from the TV someone would get the message.  Local free TV is good enough for me.

  2. I got ticked off with them a long time ago! I no longer have television and don't miss it. I like the ONLINE world much better!

  3. I'm ticked off at cable, phone, electric, internet and gas companies.

  4. The cable company is just the carrier of the signal. If you have a beef with something, and you want it to change, go to the source. The cable company can't change those things.

Write to the networks and demand they stop showing so many ads and playing the same old movies over and over.

  5. I just got rid of DirecTV - they are the worst offenders  and so very expensive.   Mostly shopping channels, music channels, and kids programming!    Also I had AT&T for phone and internet - DSL - but now I have straight cable in a bundle.   I know that a lot of people do not care for them, but at least they stay on the air when it rains.  Dish TV goes out if you just sneeze.   The AT&T bill alone now pays for 3 services - TV, Internet and phone.   I got a deal for 2 years, plus unlimited Starz and Encore - although I have seen most of the movies it is nice for  a change of pace.     None of them are  perfect!  And choices are very limited in this town.     We just have to make the best of a bad situation.              CJ

  6. I especially hate that you have to buy "packages".  I'm sure there is a way for them to sell you just what you want at a decent price but they insist on making somethings available only by bundling services together. I'm tired of paying for things I don't want or need.

  7. h**l yes. that is why i have Dish Network. Well worth the money. Also the net is quicker and better..

  8. I'm with CJ for most of the same reasons. I moved from Hurricane country to tornado country. When ever we had an alert the satellite would go out, just when we needed to know what was going on. We got a bundle package New Wave, and it is better, they are a fairly new company and only in my area for about a year, only a few months for Internet, so theystill have a few kinks to work out.

I know what you mean about same old movies and all the commercials  ( I assume you mean the infomercials) I don't sleep well and have always used TV to help me make it through the night, lately this doesn't help because there is so little to watch on late night. I can't afford the extra for movie channels, so I guess I will have to suffer. I have written to a couple of my favorite channels, got a reply from one saying that it is the way they have to do it for economic reasons. Infomercials bring in a lot of revenue, and the older movies and sit com reruns are less expensive for them to get.

  9. same we got ddr so we fast forrwar threw all this S**t

but we did have cox and we yelled at them and they shut us off and said we didnt pay the bill so did dish so becareful

  10. idk...

  11. Ofc you have to realize that cable companies simply buy the rights to broadcast a stations telivision, they do not choose the shows themselves. They also have to pay for the upkeep of thousands of miles of fiber optic and cable plant systems, and dont forget all the good people working for cable companies trying like everyone else to make a living. Just downgrade your service to what you want. The channels play the same things no matter what tv service you choose.

  12. Talk is cheap.

Cancel your cable then, disconnect it and cancel your service.

Otherwise you're just wasting your breath.

  13. Yes, the only reason I got it is because I live in tornado country and the satellites lose their signal when the wind blows and cable doesn't and we're trying to keep up with the weather!!  BUT, I just bought and 37 inch plasma TV and cable only has a few HD channels!!  Always fun to spend a lot of money on something then realize you have to change something else!!!

  14. I am ticked off too!  I also have a problem with advanced technology concerning VCRs and DVDs. Every time I get the movies that I choose to watch, technology makes me have to buy another form to view them.  In further reply to your question, I called my cable company and told them exactly what I "didn't want" and that lowered my cost considerably.  Good luck.

  15. Hi Diana!

I agree!!!!!  I am so mad the Tele went out and I have not fixed it and cancelled cable! honest.  now if it comes back on I can watch with rabbit ears and get one channel!!!!!  Guess I showed them. haha  Good to see you!

  16. I've never liked the "choices" they give the consumer.  The free market will prevail.

  17. Yes to make it worse, we only have HBO & other premiums on one TV & half the time they don't work.

  18. I  almost never watch TV although I use my TV for rented movies or ones I own.  I do listen to the radio, and certain ads make me want to kill my radio.

  19. eventually people are just going to start getting cable illegally because there fed up wit the cable companies!

  20. Great now what to do.

  21. ROAR me too!

besides the facts that you already stated

they seem to have many issues where the channels are unavailable then they are ok then they are messed um again.....

  22. Don't know if the cable companies choose their movies, but have over 200 channels and the best movies are still on the TMC, Turner movie channel and old black and whites stuff. Yesterday saw Edward G. Robinson and Ann Southern in an old movie called 'Brother Orchid'. It was so old that Ann Southern was still thin. It is like a trip back in time to watch these old stories, but nice escape from what is going on today.

  23. I agree but what the heck can we do?  We only have one cable co. here and it's them or Direct T.V. and I've heard a lot of  complaints on them.  Here we can get basic cable fairly cheap but what channels can we get?  8 or 9 sport channels 4 shopping channels, and 3 local channels.  Not too much to look forward to.They make sure that you don't go for the cheap one.  I love the Hallmark channel ,but I have to pay an extra 5.95 a month to get it.Every time I get use to where the channels are -they change them. Now I spend my time looking for things.

  24. My Dad loves to watch the Dallas Cowboys. This fall will be quite a challenge for me trying to tell him that we can't get the games.

    Grrrrr..

  25. that would be the networks not the cable companies, the cable companies are not responsible for the programming.  they take the programming the networks give them and distribute them on there system.

  26. In Ohio, we are SLOWLY making progress toward cable company competition.  Once that happens, the door will open for consumers to select the package of channels  they WANT.  You seem to be more unhappy with programming rather than cable company concerns

  27. yep, i canceled my cable and kept internet...i can watch alot of shows online...

  28. well we tried to get someone out to  hook up the 3 times and after the third they couldn't get a part so Had to come back next day we went the evening into next day with no tv rotten customer service!!!! gave my husband 100.00 credit but only gets 10.00 for 10 months that how they keep you from canceling I told him.dont get that sauser on your roof

  29. I stay mad as HECK with all of the cable companies -- but I'm too hooked to do anything about it!!!

I hate it too -- I wouldn't put up with such terrible service from any other company but I love my cable and my high-speed internet!

  30. I am not...cable is 'old hat' now, so I don't have it.
