  1. The other answers are more than enough guidance for you on this question, but one little tip explain what you did as the others say in a diary like format, but the reflective part is to comment on what you did and why and if you could have approached the situation differently. To reflect on practice is to ask your self did what you do have a positive outcome, could you have done things differently? How else may you have approached the situation? What factors did you take into conmsideration when dealing with the situation? How might you deal with the situation now after reflection? Best of luck

  2. As it's got to be from your own experience, it really needs to be something that's actually happened, But I imagine at some point you've had to communicate with a parent with english as a second language. This would show your awareness of barriers to communication and what you did to conquer them.

    Hope that helps.

  3. Reflective account can be as simple of something like a diary entry---just write a description of what you did including specifics such as use of body language, tone etc...its got to based on your experience---eg have you read a story to the children-did you use gestures, tone of voice etc and WHY. With adults-have you been involved in meetings or discussions with other staff members-what did you say, what tone, did you use professional terms etc. and again WHY.

Barriers: Did any childrenhave English as additional languge-did you reinforce the pictures so they followed the story. Have you had contact with parents where a parent doesnt understand the jargon words you use-so did you use plain terms so it was understandable...doesnt have to big examples :) Everything you do you have reason for its just finding out why in a way to write down :)

  4. The understanding in communication bit is easy. You basically need to state you can talk and write clearly, whilst getting your point across, you can listen and follow basic and complex instructions to complete a task.

For your experience with children and adults, begin by writing about your experience with children, did you experience and difficulties? Was there a child with behavioural problems which meant you needed to alter the way you communicate - stricter tone, using hand movements to stop him/her being distracted easily?

As for adults, write about what you spoke to them about, did you speak about their child, the setting you were working in?

'Barriers' can mean anything from a disability, eg the person you are communicating with is deaf or who's hearing isn't 'average', to communicating clearly without feeling nervous. For example if you were communicating with a person who was deaf or didn't have good hearing, you would speak slowly and use hand gestures so they can 1) read your lips and 2) know what your hand movements mean to piece together the sentence.
