Hello,my name is Skippy & I just got back from a three week vaaction in Mexico. There is a variety of people in Mexico ranging from white or yellow people to deep cinnamon ones & & everything in between.I find darker Mexican men very attractive.I also noticed some darker Mexican women that I found very beautiful that looked sort of like India-Bangleshi women & some that looked Samaon,Maori or other Islander. Why does Mexican entertainment refuse to show these people??Did you know that British Entertainment, adverts & TV show more people of color (Black people,Hindu people& Malays,Chinese, ect)than Mexican entertainment?? That makes no sense. This makes me sick & I am white.I think they should make Mexican entertainment more Diverse what do you think??

  1. I've always wanted mexicans of pure indian descent to become more popular in mexican tv, but I'm of a tiny minority. Maybe because I'm white myself makes me feel that being white isn't the greatest thing ever in the universe, but mexicans don't think the way I do.

Let's cut to the cheese: mexicans are ashamed of their own culture. It's not an opinion, it's a fact of this country, and a sad fact indeed. Mexicans could care less that their own indian languages are dying; nahuatl is almost 100% extinct in Mexico City, my dad was still lucky enough to meet the last nahuatl speakers of several regions of the city (usually people over age 90 that never thought of teaching their language to their descendants).

Ebrard can say a lot about increasing nahuatl teaching in mexican schools, but it won't do much. Mexicans in general could care peanuts what happens to the toungue of the Aztecs because it isn't American and thus it isn't shiny and new and cool and c**p like that (yes, mexicans can hate the USA for many reasons many of them being very well justified, but at the same time they oogle and drool over the US for the most stupid reasons you could ever imagine. Believe me, I've seen it. Mexicans actually segregate their own people as to who has a tourist VISA to enter the US legally and how many years that VISA is worth, being 10 years the best).

Mexican tv stations simply show what the people want to see: Millionaire mexicans of spanish descent never going to school, but chatting in restaurants all day about the hot and equally shallow guys they like. A popular theme of mexican soaps is the poor indian woman (acted by a woman of spanish descent almost always) who is the housemaid of a millionaire's house and falls in love with the millionaire son who is blond with blue eyes with a perfect tan and the guy is a machist idiot. Sometimes the theme changes a bit and the indian woman is a secretary and the man the Licenciado who finished college and earns millions.

Soaps never tell stories of the middle class mexican and when they do feature scenes of poor people, it's always secondary characters and the scene are always stereotypical and very brief.

Televisa did do a few soaps outside of that square view, but the ratings flopped. It's just easier to repeat the millinaire dream life over and over again, people love it.

While it isn't a great movie but I enjoyed it much more than I thought, is the mexican film "Casi Divas". The film openly criticizes racism against mexican women of indian descent and the actress that plays the indian actress is a real Zapotec indian that can actually speak Zapotec language. The movie shows some scenes of a typical zapotec village in Oaxaca and how the people watch Televisa in the little store shop religiously, haha, it's so real.

The movie also features a transexual and how the now woman gets bullied a lot in her neighborhood because of her s*x change but she's overall a good person and wants to become an actress. The third worthy substory of the movie is of a woman from Ciudad Juarez who wants to open consicence to the mexican government that they keep on murdering women in her city after a coworker of her was killed. The movie itself is entertainment fluff and not intended to be a cinema masterpiece, but I like these 3 substories that are a rare gem in mexican cinema who self censors itself in these things.

  2. It's the result of 500 years of brain washing. The Spanish destroyed much of the indigenous cultures and oppressed their descendants. They've been brain washed to believe that anything Indian is inferior and anything European is superior which is a shame considering the fact that most Mexicans have a significant amount of Indian blood. The result is that most Mexicans believe they're destined to spend their lives working hard trying to make ends meet because they're not capable of amounting to more than that and the Catholic church just reaffirms those feelings. It's a cycle that needs to be broken. Hopefully they'll learn to take more pride in their indigenous heritage the way many Mexican Americans do.

  3. I live in Mexico and have often thought the same thing.  There was a really good answer a few days ago concerning color and discrimination in Mexico..written by a Mexican...very honest and well-stated.  I remember the very first commercial in the U.S. with a black person in it..for Colgate toothpaste.  The government public service announcements in Mexico do have all types of people in them.

  4. Yeah, is very bad, but  we Mexicans have a big issue with race,  for example my mother gets  kind of mad whenever i say that my nephew when he gets a little older his skin will be as dark as his father, and always a child will be consider beautiful if its born with a blondish hair,

In Mexico City, Monterrey or Guadalajara, If you are short + dark brown+ with native features  is more likely that you will have problems getting inside upscale night clubs, and even if you get inside, some times security will get you out....unless you are the son of a powerful polititian or a public figure....

Is a big issue, but not yet recognized by politicians,

Part of it is because this race issues cause the country a big divison among our population during the 19th century, the country was so divided not only by race but in many other aspects too, and cause us a lot of problems...

The country bacame a united nation after a president of Mexico Benito Juarez (1860´s) officialy consider all the country as Mix-race or Mestizo, although the majority on those days were native americans....but it helped the country bacame as one. So race issues are not bring out ever since, even more after 1910s Civil war.

Another thing also is that Mexico has only 10% of white population.....

  5. Maybe that is all the typical folks there? It may not be as colorful as the US.

  6. i think we all are but what can we do? and also notice how they have weird surrnames most people cant pronounce

  7. Reality strikes, and it's not pretty. The fact is, that most people groups wish they were whiter. Negroes in western countries even separate themselves based on lightness. Middle Easterners try to get Euro women as wives.

Is this fair? NO WAY! Is it right? I surely don't know. It just is.

What sensible situation would value a Paris Hilton over Mohandas Ghandi just because she is more ghostly?

Some individuals will contest this, but the evidence indicates it as true. It also explains why whites are hated by everyone . They have what others cannot. And governmental regulation will not fix it. Forced diversity is impossible.
