Driving to town the other day under snowy weather conditions. I was driving 30 which I feel would of made people behind me mad because most people will go 45 in the conditions I was in, was coming around a corner on a hwy and two cars were in a wreck with both cars in my lane and the people in between the cars talking about it. I tried to brake but my car started going sideways so I let off the brake and gas and tried to steer the car in the other lane but the corner was at a right incline and my car just started sliding towards the wreck and the people who just looked at us and then right when we were up to them decided they needed to run for it I hit a lady and I guess I hit the cars all I was concerned about was the lady and due to the fact that I jarred the other cars with minor cuts and bruises to a child and his mother. No one was seriously hurt, Thank God. Is it not their fault also? Get away from the accident if you can when conditions are icy or you are around a corner

  1. I feel for you, there was little you could have done. You were driving slowly and they knew the weather conditions especially considering they were at an accident scene. Why in the world would they wait for the last second to move when they could see you too were having a problem avoiding THEIR accident? I see it as their fault not yours. One of their party should have walked to the corner to wave at oncoming cars about the danger ahead.

  2. Usually your supposed to drive at a speed you can safely stop at under whatever the weather conditions are.

  3. It sounds like the road conditions caused the wreck and there was nothing you could do to prevent it. I'm not sure what the rules are regarding wrecks, but I would imagine the law requires  the drivers to move their cars out of the road if they are drivable. You didn't mention if charges have been filed against you, but if they are you should hire a good lawyer.

  4. As well I am happy that everyone is okay but here is a very good rule to follow in these types of conditions including any slippery surface.

Slow down at the first sign of rain. This is when many roads are the most slippery because oil and dust have not been washed away.

A slippery road will not give your tires the grip they need. Drive more slowly than you would on a dry road.

    Adjust your speed as follows:

Wet road—go five to ten miles slower.

Packed snow—reduce your speed by half.

    Ice—slow to a crawl.

  5. you should learn driving once more then after you come on the road because it might be a major accident.

  6. The people you hit may not have been behaving sensibly, but it is still your fault. You should have been driving at a speed which allowed you to stop, on your own side of the road, in the distance you could see was safe. If the weather is bad, you slow down. If the cars behind you don't like it, that is their problem, not yours.

  7. Obviously you were.Still driving to fast for conditions and lack of drivers skill.
