  1. I don't have kids, and I wasn't homeschooled, but even I am disgusted by this.  Figures it would happen in California first.

They're telling us what and how to learn, they're telling us what light bulbs we have to use, it's endless.  It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Could you imagine 40 years ago, someone saying "And in the 21st century, the government is going to be telling us which light bulbs to use!"  People would have laughed and called him a conspiracy nutjob.

  2. California should be ashamed.  How pathetic.  Maybe they will outlaw churches next.

  3. I agree with everything Stella said above.  We can definitely lose our rights to homeschool, and more, if we don't fight to keep them.

  4. No, no danger.  In fact, I don't think that this ruling would survive were it taken to the CA Supreme Court.

There is *no way* that homeschoolers would allow it to be made illegal.  Whether we homeschool for religious, social, educational, other, and/or all of the above reasons, all of us would fight them.  They don't want that fight.

  5. It may force some people into going "under the radar".  Homeschool is better if it is embraced by friends, family and neighbors.  The children need to have interaction with others.  BUT if it comes down to it families may need to take their schooling "underground" -- similar to the people that worked to save the slaves in the 1800's and to the people that worked to rescue those in oppression in n**i germany.

Home-schooling will never go away ---- people will always be teaching their own children.

  6. It has only been legal since the 80's.  The concerted efforts by the NEA to eliminate competition to public schooling rather than to improve the quality of public education is vicious and self serving. They cannot prove their worth by providing a quality product (public education) so they attack anything that poses competition.

All of our rights are being eroded in this country on a daily basis and yet people sit around like helpless pawns letting it happen bit by bit.    Of course it is possible.  It happened in Germany under Hitler......we are headed in that mindless direction in this country.  We listen to platitudes and fine speeches that stir our souls but they are empty at best or at worst, have dangerous undertones.  We allow the government into our lives at every turn because we "get something out of it."  And then we have to pay the price in the erosion of our liberties.

Yes it could happen.  If we do not fight with every last breath in our body.  Just because we don't want to believe a fight is necessary....just because no one wants to waste their energy fighting their own government....doesn't mean we can sit back and do nothing.   The colonists didn't want the revolution.....they had no choice.  They were pushed into a corner and had to fight for a freedom they were not even sure they wanted.

If we want our voices heard.....we must speak     LOUDLY!    Write to your state reps, your senators, and the bozos in Washington......DEMAND your rights.  Know who your friends in public office are and actively campaign for them.  Use your vote cautiously.  If homeschool/private school is an issue that stirs your passion---use your vote to speak as well.    Run for office and attempt to remove the puppets of the NEA from public office.  When a teacher or someone else speaks against homeschooling -- challenge them.  Know the arguments and debate them with intelligence and facts.  Chances are they will back down as soon as they realize they are outgunned in the fact dept.

They will try anything to get their way----  try harder!!!!!  Fight the good fight.

  7. I am afraid it wilL! That is why we HAVE to nip it in the bud! NOW!! PLEASE SIGN MY PETITION@@@

  8. 14th Amendment...

The state of California can't do a thing, national laws trump it...

I'm glad that this amendment is actually going to end up promoting freedom for once...

  9. I don't think there is any imminent danger of homeschooling becoming illegal in California or elsewhere in the US right now.

Read a bit more about it :D

  10. I can only hope! Haha!

    Are your children homeschooled?

    =)

  11. Here's a link for you all

    links.sfgate. com/ZCQR.

According to this, it has been a law since 1953 that all home school parents and tutors be credentialed.

If the link info is correct, the ruling is not changing the law, but trying to enforce it.

That's just my take on the article, and doesn't mean I agree or disagree either way.  Read it for yourself and see what it sounds like to you.
