  1. I have read a lot of poetry over the years and I find 80% of the "great poetry" boring and not to my tastes. Most beginning poets write gooey romantic S***e that would make a hallmark card blush from embarrassment.

So I come in here expecting to have to hold my tongue alot and say "Not my cup of tea" for a 1000 poems in a row, and lo and behold, I have read alot of good stuff in here. I am surprised how many gifted poets there are considering that 1) poetry is unmarketable 2) there are no role models 3) Yahoo! Answers in general is a pit of intellectual despair. So what I want to know is:

Where are all these good poets coming from?

  2. 1. Yes.

    2. Very.

    3. Yep.

    4. No.

    Lol.

I know what you mean. But don't worry you are not alone. People are out there, few, yes, but still, who realize this.

  3. I think that the academic system in general is exclusive-- if you're not getting published in some elite journal, you're a nobody.  There's no room for a poet to be a poet thanks to the rigors of the market.

I've read your stuff and I love the sounds.  But let's fact it: Yahoo is no place for you. You need to recklessly pursue your gift, do the impossible, get your voice into the ears of the people.  I want to read good poets like you in anthologies; this pond is too small.

As a bad poet, I think that our preponderance is nothing special.  We just write and want people to acknowledge what we do without expectations.  Public channels like Yahoo are breeding grounds for guys like me who just want some help.  We gravitate to the ears and spit in the wind.

Thanks for your thought-provoking question.  I can only hope amateur poets of your caliber are in good and plentiful company.

  4. You need to jump start your heart

try now  to act like Groucho marx

    look for those joyous moments

that make you smile & laugh

without trying to take out a barf

    now that's a start

if you wanna join the others

    without acting as a giraffe

    a holly roller

    or mother goose

    spruce up your act

while not acting like a fool

    with your one trick spoon

if you do,as i see you

    then you should just

    jump into the pool

    to wet your sociable  insatiable

    appetite

    and go down the street

    and eat a Macdonalds bite

    that might help you

not getting into a fight ?
