Is anyone else fed up with BT, they charged us £184+ VAT for changing a s***w when our phones were not working

To add to my question: Don't worry out there, we are refusing to pay a penny to BT. Saying that, they told us they would reduce the bill to £84+ VAT, but we still refused to pay them anything, we then got another letter from BT saying they had paid us £99 back into our account as agreed. WE NEVER AGREED TO THIS, THEY HAVE ILLEGALLY TAKEN MONEY OUT OF OUR ACCOUNT, and then given us some back. I have emailed, written and phoned them to no avail, they are cheats and liars, and have the domination of the communications world. We are going to fight this, the engineer told us it was a fault on the line, and the s***w was in the box that belongs to BT. He warned us at the time that BT had been charging for work done and numerous people are complaining. WE WILL FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. do not know why as all maintenance is free

when you got the price you should have said you will go to ntl or aol , and they would have done it free to keep you

  2. i was charged £160 from bt for fitting a new box i let them do the work then refused to pay it as my argument was i rent the box from them and i did not break it it was just old

they stated i had to pay it and i told them i would change suppliers and just pay my bill off

they changed their mind and waved the charges as i pointed out when i phoned to get it fixed they said there would be no charge

stand your ground they will back down

  3. Do you have your own handsets. I had my own and had a problem, they said they could do the job, but as it wasn`t BT property they would have to charge as the line was working ok and it was the ancillary equipment.

  4. If you paid them that amount, you must have more than a s***w loose.....

  5. yeah i'm a tad disappointed with bt, the other day a guy came round to tweak a problem cuz my broadband wasn't working 100%. He found a wire he said he would disconnect because it had 40 volts of foreign current and he didn't know what it was. He then left saying he was going to reconnect my phone. Two hours later i still did not have my landline working. I called bt on my mobile and they said my landline was fine, working. It wasn't. In my frustration i went and reconnected what the engineer had disconnected (the foreign current) and guess what? i got my landline back......the idiot could not even identify the wire that was my phone....

  6. Should not charged you challenge it and dont pay until you know why.

  7. Hi Don

I agree a little with you, whilst i dont condone BT bashing or anyone else, it does appears there customer service if you call it that, has nose dived into the ground.

I had a fault on the line for over 3 days, they refused to refund part of my line rental, a few days later it happened again! after this on and off for a weeks or so, they then blamed my phones in the house, little did they know i was a engineer!, with all the cable and phones disconnected, only a BT test phone connected to the pair of wires coming from the undergound cable. so it couldnt have been my phones.. after another few weeks and a threat of a call out of around £145 to get a technician to my home, the fixed an underground cable, since no problem. (they are all underground cable fixes). BT said tuff, i had 11 months to run on my 18 month contract so, theres nothing i can do!, but only for another 4 months! then what else can i do, Virgin are just as bad, their customer service wouldnt accept a line fault! saying change my phones first with another etc... hence my chnage to BT!, out of the frying pan into the fire!!!! i feel.

good luck, stick to your guns.

there needs to be a 3rd supplier...

  8. I changed to BT Broadband and have had nothing but trouble, the band takes too long, answers keep coming up as Internet Explorer can't connect, this cuts me off, they seem to be about the most expensive to deal with and when my contract runs out i will get rid of them and go elsewhere, my advice is keep away from BT. They are also too long to get on the phone, ages you have to wait, They are trash, It goes to show as well when they charge for a s***w fixed so much. They really are a let down.

Just to put it straight to whoever gave me a thumbs down, your a nutter, try using BT yourself and don't make out i was lying because what I said was the truth, funny enough it was the media that warned a lot of people about the bad service you get from BT. Or if you are intent on just giving untruthful marks get OFF Answers

  9. the £8.50 phone package they are promoting, amounts to nearly £30 in reality - make your own minds up

  10. go for virgin media

  11. Yes i am. I sometimes have trouble with my broadband , when i phoned for help i was told the problem was inside my home and that they would have to charge me. I explained to them that the problem only started when i installed their hub and that how can they charge me for something they owned and i rented , and also if they found the fault was through negligence , then i would pay. They said they would get back to me and i'm still waiting.

Bt suck , as soon as my contract finishes i will move and i could never recommend them to anyone.
