Question:

Is anyone else finding the "Tim Russert LoveFest" to be the most humiliating thing on American TV?

Tim Russert was a corporate media lackey... he may have been better than the rest of them at asking "compelling questions" but at the end of the day... MSNBC, Fox and CNN are all on the same side....

Now every Politician and "journalist" in the country is weeping and whispering about how we will all miss him... and they are even bringing out accoustic guitars now... UGHH!

Why is the American media so self-congratulating when they have repeatedly failed us in every way imaginable?

  1. I'm not denying that the electronic media sometimes can overdo coverage, particularly when it involves one of its own. Did Tim Russert deserve more coverage than, say, Peter Jennings? Tough call.

However, this was one of the top political journalists in the country, in the prime of his career, with millions of viewers and fans. He might have been the most influential reporter on politics in the business. Russert has received tributes from print reporters -- who if you've noticed don't go out of their way to praise TV types -- as well as politicians. Did you notice that Obama and McCain both went to the funeral ... and sat together? And his passing was a shock. I can't blame NBC for its coverage.

I know you've got your own opinions here, and I respect that. But I'll just say that you are one of the few people to suggest Fox and MSNBC are on the same side.

  2. With all the hate in the world I would never complain about people expressing love for another human being

  3. I haven't been watching TV but what gets me is what a country of users we have. We have thousands of people go to a funeral of someone they don't know but they ignore someone who doesn't have any money as if they are worthless.

  4. It is a bit much, but I really liked Tim.  I do agree w/ you that American media is pretty dismal.  But at the end of the day - I think Tim was a good guy, and I will actually miss him.

  5. I don't know about the most humiliating thing on America TV, Keith Olbermann is still on the air.

I never really watched any of his programs so I can't make an intelligent appraisal of the man. But I do know the whores in the media have a way of deifying one of their own.
