Is anyone else happy that more drivers are getting the media attention they deserve this season?

It seems like the media isn't shoving Dale Jr. down everybody's throat (no offense to his fans, that's just how it has seemed the past few years) as much as earlier years, and is actually giving other guys more attention. Anyone know why? And how do you feel about it?

I think it's much better than last season.

I never really thought Jr. got much more attention than now in the previous seasons, but even I as a fan will admit the media spends way too much time on him. and he probably agrees with me. It's easy to tell he hates the media.

I think for one Dale Jr's happier that they're paying attention to more drivers this year. Notice he's running a lot better this year without so much attention on him.  I seriously think that Jr plays the long pause game just to get them off his back. If you watch him on QVC, or hosting Back in The Day he doesn't do that.

As a member of the dreaded media, I'll tell you that you go where the story is. Last year, Junior's engine debacles and move to HMS hogged the headlines.

While HE is having one of his best seasons ever, there's a lot of focus of the emergence of Kyle Busch (especially since he got booted by RH for Jr.) and the possible move of Tony Stewart.

Last night's race was great in that just about every driver n the track got their 15 minutes of fame.

I can tell you right now, I don't try to force any driver down anyone's throat in my limited coverage of NASCAR. As a sports guy, I gotta give time for the stick and ball stuff too, and I won't ignore IRL or F-1 either).

I'm not gonna be a guy who says to the fan, "s***w you, you're too stupid to know what you want. Here's what you're supposed to know." The news media is really guilty of that IMO. Rather- there's some give and take with covering the winners AND the most popular. You can't deny Junior IS that. AND he's better than the hardcore haters give him credit for. The standings don't lie.

Its a bit better.  Not much.  Dale Jr had his best season in 2004.  Where did you come up with that "best"?

I haven't noticed much of a change at all.  Matter of fact, I think Jr's coverage has increased.  They ask him a question,  stick a microphone in his face and leave it there for him to mumble for 5 minutes.  All he ever says after a race is how bad his car was or "it's hot".  He may be the 2nd worst at being interviewed of all time.  His dad was the worst of all time because if he didn't win, he ran to his hauler & wouldn't be interviewed.  The ONLY reason other drivers are getting the media attention they're getting is because Jr isn't winning.

Its about time.   Last year a non Nascar fan would have thought Dale jr was the best driver of all time, even though he hasn't really had that good of a career.

I have enjoyed the interviews. Being a David Ragan fan, I have loved seeing the 2 big interviews involving he and Adam. Altough, Klyle Busch is trying to steal it from everyone else. What did we hear last night?

You think so? I don't know.  Maybe it's just me but I still hear Jr. this and Jr. that. No matter where he finishes he is always interviewed.   I do think, that other drivers are getting more attention than they did before.  Kyle being one of them.  It's just that Jr. gets as much as he always did on account of his dad.   And this year that he finally is in the top 10 in points so yeah they will still be on him like flies on...honey. :0)

And it is nice to hear that there are other drivers out there being discussed and not just Jr.

That's because this is TNT; the least biased of the 3 stations that cover the Cup Series. Just wait till the Brickyard with ESPN if you wanna see biased.
