Before the race Rick Dutrow was all mouth. After the race he wanted to get away without saying a word. He should be in a Southwest Airlines commercial.

Wanna get away?

  1. Even though I lost about $30 on the race, I didn't mind Dutrow and the slippery owners getting a good dose of humility today. Dutrow had been talking about Curlin not wanting to go up against Big Brown, and Mike Iavarone, the former pump and dump scam artist, was talking about some Hollywood movie deal. Curlin will be racing next week, it will be nice to see a real champion. I think the overlooked good news today is that Nick Zito won the Belmont !! Congratulations Nick Zito, a man of class and integrity !!

  2. yes he was. And by the way big brown Was acting in the stall he couldnt do it with the aditude. My racer would never do that

  3. I, like none of you, have any idea what it's like to be on the brink of winning the triple crown, so who are we to judge?

  4. Yea! I really wanted Big Brown to win..but im sad he didnt but h**l a glad that his owners and trainer got shut up! if big brown was owned by a good well rounded family and a good family trainer who they have known for years i would have wanted him to win so bad. but the owners are investors who did it as a hobby to show off thier money. You dont do the sport for the money you do it for the love and pasion you have for racing! he thought he had it in the bag even before Casino Drive got scratched!

  5. yes...but im also laughing my butt off at all of the punters who thought he was a champion and a sure thing.... for the last month on here its been big brown is a champion, big brown  is gonna win, big brown this and big brown that...never laughed so hard! i hope big brown can go to the paddock to live a happy life instead of being flogged to make money.

  6. I think Dutrow put his horse before the cat when he started spouting off about being better than Curlin. I think he sealed his fate then and there.

I was sorry to see him lose, He's a great horse to watch run.

Nick Zito! Congratulations.. you deserve a big win like this.

My favorite race of the day was watching Big Benny run an awesome championship race.

Say what you will but Dutrow has a few great runners in his barn this year.

  7. I would have liked to see Big Brown win. Rick Dutrow was very insistant that Big Brown was going to win, and he had a right to think that way.  You can't predict unforseen circumstances. However, it did seem Dutrow was rude when he spoke before the race, and he should have at least said something after the race.  Guess you could put it off to it being the Belmont and the stress before the race and concern after.

  8. well for one thing i am sad big brown lost. it would have been a great experience to see a 12th triple crown winner regardless of the horse or it's rider or owner. i also want to add, do not gamble on horse races either. watching the horses should be a good enough time, and it is too risky.

also Big Brown is still an amazing horse who has won many races. there are many factors as to why he has lost this race.

  9. You made me laugh, so you get a star.  "Wanna get away?"  no kidding!

Yes, after the race I was like "well that shut him up."  That guy needed this experience all year.  He did the TVG Legends interview and he said "I'm not gonna be saying that if my horse is surrounded by other runners and is in a really tough spot..." he said his horse was great and couldn't lose.  It's true, the horse was decent.  But you have to give some respect to the others.  You have to be respectful or you look like a jack@ss when something like this happens.  Dutrow deserved what he got.

  10. Yes.  Let this be a lesson to anyone who thinks that

there are sure things in sports, especially horse racing.

Big Brown simply wasn't good enough to win the triple crown.

They've had him juiced up on steroids, and that why he

ran away with the Kentucky Derby and Preakness.

    Dutrow is a slimball cheat.

It used to be that triple crown contenders usually has 6 to 10

races under their belt.  Big Brown had 3 coming into the KD.

Christ, Casino Drive only had 2 coming into the Belmont,

and he was considered the second favorite before his scratch.  He's probably juiced up too.  The potential money

is so huge, that anything goes.

I'm glad Big Brown got exposed.  He's not even a pimple on Secretariat's, Seattle Slew's, or Affirmed's asses.

  11. no i was hopin i'd get to see a Triple Crown man

  12. I really wanted Big Brown to win, but his trainer and owner (s) are both SCUMBAGS!!!!!! :) lol

  13. Nothing against Big Brown, cause he's a great horse.

But Big Clown did mouth off too much.

  14. That's funny! But I wanted Big Brown to win, it was disappointing for me.

  15. Yes, his trainers mouth was bad enough but it was his 33 page racing association rap sheet that bothered me more than anything.  Then we found out one of his owners was a crook who had been lying all along about being a multimillionaire investment banker.  Thank goodness we won't have to listen to their c**p anymore.

Big Brown deserves his props for winning the first two legs.  He is a good horse but I didn't think he was good enough to join the likes of Secretariat and Seattle Slew.

  16. No..he's a proud man who loves his horse.  I'd rather see a positive trainer than one of mush.  He was sad, it was such a high moment to be let down...He needed to be sure of the problem before speaking...Have a heart to all who hoped to see history in the making.  I think most would feel happier today if he won.  I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Big Brown...look for him to race in The Travers and/or Breeder's cup...he's a 60 million dollar baby.  Rick has bragging rights.  However, I do like your humor.

  17. I'm not.  Not this way.  If his horse had been 100% and gotten beaten that way then maybe it would have served him right to not have his horse win after all his talk.  He was bragging about the horse---not himself.  Leading up to this all his talking was pretty much right on target.  And like they say, it's not bragging if you can pull it off.

You're right---he didn't want to talk after the race.  He wanted to figure out how his horse was and what happened.  His priority was the condition of his horse not providing a good sound bite for the nightly news.  Putting the welfare of his horse first and also speaking when he had correct information (and not speculation) to give the media.  What a concept.
