I think DTV going into effect is a great time for me to clean TV's poison out of my system. This 'upgrade' is unnecessary and a waste of money.

  1. The entire state of S.C. has to do it by 2009.

  2. I don't understand why people would get anti tv completely unless it's an unhealthy addiction.  It's good for information, even if you just watch documentaries.  Unless you're old it's not very interesting to everyone else if you don't have a tv for some entertainment at least.  I guess you can always watch vhs or dvd's.

Get a coupon and a digital converter for $10 (w/coupon).  That's not expensive.  You can use your existing antenna - the UHF loop receives the digital transmissions.  Some tv is poison, some is good - just like everything, c'mon join in w/the human race.

  3. If you don't make the change over you will not get a good reception. If you have cable or satelite you will be ok, or if you have a new enough TV. You won't have to worry about purchasing a digital receiver. Check the owners manual on your TV it should say if it has a digital receiver already installed on it.
