Is anyone else pushing for the HIM(Health Insurance for Men) Act?

The government office that implements it will proclaim "The Office on Health Insurance for Men (HIM), a component of the U.S. Department of Insurance(yes, I know it's is state), provides national leadership in developing the nation's capacity to increase health insurance for men through the implementation of the Health Insurance for Men Act (HIM Act) and subsequent legislation."

Of course, the wording will be gender neutral, but all the funding will go to men.

Before I get any dissenting views.. I would like to state beforehand that the wording will be gender neutral and if you don't want this.. are you one of those women that wants to see men die of illness?

  1. *sigh* all right, Kendrick.

    I'll play along.

No, dear, I don't mind. We'll just get similar legislation enacted for women. Then we'd have that universal health care people are so afraid of. : )

  2. based on your condition,I believe you should find something useful here.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  3. I have not heard of this.  Was it introduced in the House or the Senate?

  4. There would never be a law passed that says "men" specifically in this day and age in trying to help them out.

  5. I don't know what Professor is rambling on about. My girlfriend gets oral contraception for free at her OBGYN. Also, if you're mature enough to have s*x, you should be mature enough to spend $2 at the local drugstore for a 3-pack of condoms.

  6. My husbands insurance covers everything... including vasectomies.  The interesting thing here is he refuses to go to doctors unless he is dying.  I tend to be more concerned about my physical health and go more often as not wanting to wait till it is at its worst.   My father who has serious medical conditions is the same way my husband is and refuses to see doctors unless something is at its worst.  So will HIM have some kind of incentive for these men to use their service.  I have never personally heard that certain men are not covered for certain procedures by their health care companies.  However I know that men and women on state health insurance have been refused many services; what would this do for them?  Are we still looking at giving advantages to men?  Shouldn't we be concerned about humanity as a whole? No women wants to see men die of illness most of us women encourage the men we know to go to the doctors before it gets so bad.  However you mention in your edits viagra and vasectomy is there anything else more life threatening that is not covered?  My mother who is on state insurance because she is disabled was denied a surgery to remove cyst from her uterus that cause a lot of pain.  Due to the fact they are not at the point that would kill her and that the surgery would only ease her pain; anything like that?

I have yet to see anything on the web regarding this act so that I could read more on it; do you have a link?

  7. There is no U.S. Department of Insurance and insurance is already geared towards men.   Why would Viagra be covered but oral contraceptives for a woman not.  Its not like men don't have a vested interest in women not getting pregnant.

    Edit:

LOL now its a horrible medical condition.

Secondly women do need oral contraceptives for purposes other than contraception.    They treat verifiable health issues.

Are you still trying to say men don't have a vested interest in women not getting pregnant?   Most states do not require them to be covered.

And trying to make up law to link to VAWA is really asinine.
