I have a long history of chronic migraines and I have done all kinds of research on the causes... and results of migraines.

One of the causes is PHENYLALANINE in diet sodas.

I decided to start dieting again and I bought Diet Twist Up and Diet Rite just the day before yesterday and have only drank maybe 4 glasses. This morning I awoke to a killer migraine... throwing up, dizzy, etc. Is it possible that the phenylalanine in the Diet Twist Up caused this migraine? I'm confused about it because I have only been drinking it for 2 days and not very much at that.

Also, if you have any tricks or secrets to avoiding migraines DO TELL!! lol I swear sometimes I would rather die than have a migraine they hurt so bad...

  1. yes, i have suffered from migraines since i was 9 yrs old... they get so bad sometimes i litterally feel like i am gonna die! sometimes i get them so bad that the next day after the migraine is gone, my head is sore from the migrain.... the soreness kinda feels like i took a good l**k to the head.

and yes, diet sodas do trigger migraines for me... not only do i get migraines from them, i get really nauseaus...the artificial sweeteners in diet sodas are so bad for you..sometimes ppl think that because is says "diet" its better for you... the truth is, your body breaks down the natural sugar much better than the artificial sugar.and artificial sweeteners have been proven to cause diabetes...and there is a link to caner and artificial sweeteners

    some ways i avoid migraines:

not eating certain foods... strawberries ,cheese, nuts, and pizza are some migraine triggers for some ppl.. chocolate is also a trigger... keep a food diary and when you get a migriane, see if there are any foods that are in common on days you get the headache. and eating an excessive amount of sweets is also a trigger.

also, get enough sleep! for me, sleep deprevation is the biggest migriane trigger. and also drink enough water... sometimes being dehydrated will cause migraines.

  2. Yes, I am allergic to nutra-sweet. I have always been (since it first came out). About 2 % of the population gets migraines from nutra-sweet (or aspertame as it is called).

I gave up soda, and on the rare occasion that I do have one, I drink regular soda.

Also alot of artifical foods and snacks contain nutra-sweet. Read the labels.

  3. You need allergy testing and referencing. You could be allergic to a number of things, since sodas have corn syrup, sweetners, artificial flavors, and dyes. I have life threatening allergies and migraines are one of the first symptoms I had to keep me from doing anything. I had to go through a lot of testing and then experiments on my own. I take ibuprofen for swelling and pain. The best thing to drink while dieting is water.

  4. Forget crazy diets for losing weight.. Acai Berry is this new product I've been trying after seeing it on Oprah. I'm already seeing results!! You should give it a shot, here's a special link for a free 14-day trial.
