I hate how the UFC's biggest concern is making money and not the fighters or the fans.

  1. I am not a MMA fan and I am glad to see the UFCrap about to fall it is a house built of cards it,s not real and it wont last Dan White gives the fighters he want to be champions the belts. I don,t see how people can get that excited about it after every fight there is a new ah champion at the top level the fighters are supposed to be close in ability but not that close

  2. Yea of course.  But at least people like Dana White and the Ferttita's are fans of the sport and have done a lot to make it what it is now - they have to make money in order to pay the fighters to have MMA fights in the first place.

BUT they are also, stupidly and greedily at fault - the UFC does not pay its fighters enough, uses their likeness for profit, and can only fight for their company and only when they say so, yet can be cut at any time. This is exactly why a full 40% of the the UFC hall of fame hates the UFC now and will have nothing to do with them.

Dana White is the reason major fights will never happen.  For example, he COULD co-promote a Fedor-Couture fight and still make gobs of money but he will not do it because his v****a hurts.  Dana White is literally the only person on earth that can make this fight happen and he will not do it.

Eventually the fighters will have to unionize and get a collectiva bargining agreement with all the various promotions, that way fighters will get paid more and all fights that can and should happen, will.

  3. its a business...and people go into business to make money.  if the ufc wasn't concerned about money, mma probably wouldn't have grown as much as it has in the past few years.  you have to take the good with the bad.

  4. If boxing politics are the alternative, I'll take the UFC and Dana White over Don King any day.

  5. Ummm... like another poster said.. EVERYONE Is out to make money.

No other promotion has done for MMA what the UFC has, their biggest concern is growing the sport and the organization (which means more money, and more money for the fighters, more fighters getting a shot, and better product for the fans).

Honestly if the UFC wasn't there, these fighters wouldn't be making any money, or would be working 9-5's making ends meet.

The UFC does what it can do, i.e. produce the best good (i.e. shows, fights, events) for the least amount of money, and selling it for the highest price that they can do and still have people buy. It's simple economics.

The invisible hand of self interest will guide the UFC to either pay fighters more (i.e. when there is competetion is legitimate and afford to pay fighters more, and get the same exposure), to charge less for their PPVs (again when competetion comes and forces them to do.)

Already they put on a free show with their main headliner against Affliction going strictly by PPV.

"It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own self interest. We address ourselves, not to their humanity but to their self-love, and never talk to them of our own necessities but of their advantages"

    -Adam Smith
