Im sorry it may sound heartless but hes not the only person who was a POW. As a matter of fact I'm sure there are people out there being tortured as he was and not giving in currently. I just dont think that should be all they talk about.

  1. The truth is he wouldn't help the families of the P.O.W's left there & he was the one that obstructed them from finding their loved ones. This is the most important story of all & is just being ignored. Yes, no person who has been through anything traumatic is going to tell the story for 50 years it would eat them alive but it is his only claim to fame.

  2. I will never be sick of what McCain has done for our country, he is a military hero. Would you rather hear about how those military men and women were treated when they got home. They were spit on instead of being welcomed home. It was a time I will never forget, so many refused to go to Vietnam, instead they burned there draft cards and ran off to places like Canada. They were given immunity and welcomed home. But all those brave men and women were treated like animals when they returned. They fight for us, and it's there right to tell us what they went through. God bless them all.

  3. Yes I am.  The thing that bothers me most about his POW story is that he acts like what he did by turning down early release was such a brave thing for him alone.  All POWs turned down early release because it was against their code of conduct.  So, if McCain would have accepted the offer, then it would have demoralized the military, he would have been dishonorably discharged, and his family name would have been ruined.  He had no choice but to stay.  He admits to being a selfish man then, but even he knew his limits.  Now he is politicizing this part of his life for political gain.  Sure, what he did for our country was very honorable.  However, that does not mean he would be a good President.

  4. John McCain's war story is very compelling and heroic, but linking it to his ability to effectively lead our nation into energy independence, job creation, and health care for the 47 million Americans without health care is a difficult pill to swallow.  And if that were not enough, 9.2% of US households are having problems making their mortgage payments, which correlates very well with the 10.2% of US households reporting that they are "under-employed".  I have great respect for John McCain with respect to his service to our country, but I have grave doubts with respect to his grasp of the economic issues that face ordinary Americans given that he and his running mate Gov. Palin have yet to roll out a specific agenda to address the #1 issue of this election year - "THE ECONOMY"!!!

  5. Yes.  Especially since most of it is fabricated and exaggerated.

Below is some of the real McCain

  6. I am sick of mccain... Just another bush to me. All I have been hearing is how mccain was tortured. and Denied early release from prison camp... Bull ****..

  7. sick to death of it move on

  8. First of all honey, pay attention, thats not the only thing they have talked about.  Secondly, why don't you go and volunteer to sit in a prison in a foreign country and have your bones broken and left to hang there and be starved and humilitated in any way shape or form for somebody else's propoganda, not to mention spending years away from your family.  You've seen movies where some criminal in prison has to do a month in solitary confinment right?  Try 3 years.  Who do you think you are showing that kind of disrespect?  And to the person you wrote about the ignorant military bases?  Um no, that would be the girl who wrote the previous statement.  And for the record, its NOT John McCain who is talking about being a prisoner, its everybody else who is trying to get him elected and you know what, its a pretty relevant tactic to use.  And finally, no you obviously do not have to be in the military to be a patriot, but lay your life on the line for your country, watch a buddy die for his country, or support the love of your life as he fights for his country and I'll tell you, nothing compares!

  9. Wow!  Such a change in tone over listening to stories of Kerry shooting kids in the back in 2004!

  10. It's his way of getting the ignorant military-base votes.  Patriotism.  Only a POW or a former military person can be a patriot!  didn't you know that????

That and 9/11 are the only two things that the Republicans continue to use.  Because they don't have any other platform to stand on.

  11. No I'm not.  I think everyone should be reminded daily of the sacrifices brave men and women have made, militarily or otherwise, to make us free and give us a better life.  That includes our soldiers, our forefathers, our ancestors, our parents, our neighbors, everyone.

My great-grandfather fled Russia in the 1905 White revolution.  He hid in Poland until 1909, when he came to America.  He was a well schooled man who could read, write, and speak at least 11 languages.  Once he came to America, he was "nothing" but a janitor, or in todays pc speak, a building sanitation engineer.  All the letters of his I have read where he states that America is the best idea man ever came up with is something I think about every day.

No.  I'll never be sick of hearing about Senator McCain's, or anyone elses, sacrifices to the greatest idea man ever came up with.  Forget those, and you forget why we are so great.

  12. That's a good one.  I think indicative of more recent generations.  Less willing to fight for the right to be a US citizen and more want everything given to them.  Whatever happens, McCain gave plenty for the United States.  If he wants to talk then let him talk.

  13. I support McCain, but he looked uncomfortable telling that story again.

I think he doesn't even like to talk about it.

It was overdone during the convention - give it a rest!

I did like the way he went after those who have used their political clout for self-interested reasons.

If he can keep his promises.... (since when has that ever happened? He'll have lots of Congressmen after him if he tries).....

We should find ourselves in a position to vote out those who abuse their power because he said he will make it public knowledge WHO it is that puts in all those ear-marks.

Then it will be up to us voters.

Would Obama make such a pledge?

  14. Our current enemy does not take prisoners.

I like the POW story better than the "blue collar prep school" rhetoric.

  15. You should be ashamed asking such a rude question. It is military people like him that give you your freedom.

  16. He was a POW and he talks about it. It's not the only thing he talks about though.

Obama can't even say he served, either in peacetime or in war. NO MILITARY EXPERIENCE WHATSOVER!!!!! If you saw the picture. he also does not show respect for the flag or the country. I sure would not want this clown to be the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces and that is one of the Presidents titles.

Just remember, FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

  17. i tthink he is extremely honorable guy who has experienced 1st hand war unlike pretty boy obama who doesnt want to get his hands dirty

  18. Yes.

However, I do tire  --rather quickly-- of ANY attempts at emotional manipulation.

If memory serves, I think someone named Rudy Giuliani has been linked to NYC and 9/11, or something or other.  I'm not sure.  You RARELY hear much about Rudy Giuliani and 9/11, so it is difficult to know if Rudy Giuliani had any relationship to 9/11 or not.

Why doesn't Mr. Giuliani tell us more about 9/11 and how he was involved in it?  Just "flesh out" the story a little more, ya know?

I'm sure we're all VERY curious, and would like to hear MORE about the story.

  19. Seriously!  Blah blah you love your country blah blah you suffered for my freedom - SHUT UP ALREADY MCCAIN

We want to hear more vacuous promises about hope and change from a street activist!

  20. McCain's motto is "Country First" and his experience as a POW has been a major factor in forming this philosophy so I would continue to expect to hear about it through Nov. 4.

McCain's story is much more compelling than being a community organizer. Sorry I am biased being from a Navy family as well.
