Tomorrow I'll be 20 weeks and I still am sick to my stomach with nausea at least half the time, especially in the evenings. I've done the ginger tea, pickled ginger, even Unisom pills (that my dr. told me to take) which helped for a few weeks but in the past month the nausea has been back. I can barely eat anything and have only gained 1 lb total so far but what else can I do to stop feeling so SICK all the time??

  1. Oh my goodness YES! I am 19 weeks I went for my ultrasound today and they told me to drink water for a full bladder I could not even keep water down it was horrible! I get so sick in the mornings and even throughout the day. This is my 3rd pregnancy and they have all been the same lots of morning sicness. I have not gained anything yet and its hard for me to keep anything down.

Nothing work's for me I guess it just goes away mine usually more around 30 weeks I think some people just have weaker tummys when pregnant than others my friend was NEVER sick ahhh.

    Good Luck and Congrats!

  2. I was sick the entire pregnancy. It kicked into overdrive during the 3rd trimester. There really isn't anything you can do about it. I know this sounds horrible, but the only way I made it through was when I got up in the morning, I gulped down 8 oz of warm water...waited a few minutes and then threw up. I noticed that as long as I was able to get the acid out of my stomach I felt alot better. Throughout the day I snacked on crackers between meals. I was able to make it through full time college and a 40+ hour work week because I just got it over with instead of trying not to throw up.

Gross I know, but trust me you will feel better.

  3. I have heard that taking vitamin B-12 or B-6 (check with your doctor) can help with nausea.  Phenergan or Reglan are sometimes prescribed to help with nausea with pregnancy.  I would ask your doctor if the nausea persists.  Oh...I just remembered...I started taking my prenatal at night before going to bed instead of in the morning.  The high iron amount makes a lot of ladies queasy.  It is worth a shot.

  4. i was nauseous till my 5th month.. i told my dr how sick i was i even lost 20 lbs she prescribed me some pills that worked wonders then they stopped working and i had to use something else ... but eventually it goes away.. some people stay sick the entire pregnancy.

  5. I'm 36.6 weeks, and have dealt with nausea the ENTIRE time! I'm just one of those lucky ones I guess.

I did get prescribed some 'Maxolon' which took the edge off the nausea, but nothing has worked for me. I gave up trying, except sometimes, a  very strong peppermint lozenge would help a little, other times it just stirred it up.

But, on the plus side, even with the copious nausea, I did manage to start putting on weight, mainly around the 30 weeks mark.

  6. My doctor put me on Zofran.

But she advised me not to get a refill on the prescription because it makes the baby drowsy in utero.

So, I try and suck it up.

But man, Zofran worked like a charm. I miss it! Lol

  7. Hun there is no cure for this, your hormones and chemicals are all jacked up... just ride it out. I was sick for 8 months of my pregnancy and my son came out completely healthy at 7.10lbs.

All I could eat was jello and drink koolaid and not because I kept it down as much as I didn't mind the taste when I threw it up.

However try to keep some sort of bread in your stomach to soak up the acids. It will subside on it's own, trust me.

  8. aww you poor mama!

i was VERY sick for almost 6 months throwing up 10-12 times a day and going to my OB-GYN every week.

Nothing worked for me ...it will end even if that means 20 more weeks from now ...just think positive you've made it half way!!

  9. I was sick into month four....some people are sick all the way through, unfortunately.    One thing I found that was making me sick  I think was too much iron. I was taking my prenatal vitamin (100 percent iron) plus Belly Bars (100 percent iron) plus fortified cereal (100 percent iron)..  Keep taking your prenatal vitamin...but if you are taking anything else with Iron you might want to eliminate it.   I found Ginger Cookies to help...and lots of small meals.  I"m sorry you don't feel good...I know how awful it must be.  : (

  10. Talk to your Dr about prescribing you Zofran. It is an anti-nausea medication and is safe for the baby. It's a very tiny white pill that dissolves on your tongue & taste like a mint, so no bad taste. I took it all the way up to 23 wks cause I was sooo sick and couldn't hold anything down. But it stopped it and I starting to gain weight because I could finally eat. It does make you drowsy some but hey it's better than getting sick all the time. Good luck!

  11. i was sick until between 22-23 weeks. I ate peppermint A LOT! Another helpful tip is to put lemon on a handkerchief and smell that. It's suppose to help.

Best of luck! i know how you feel!
