Is anyone else unhappy & PO'ed with their Pontiac G6?

I have an '06 G6 GT with 44,000 miles on it. Now that it's out of warranty, all kind of things are happening to it.

Example:

All breaks are bad (replaced fronts so far, now need to do backs)

Front tire rod is bad

Drivers side wheel bearing needed replacing

Lights on dash fading

Needed new tires (that I can understand based on my mileage)

Blinker sometimes acts funny

Need new wiper blades (and of course GM made it so you can't buy the aftermarket ones, you have to spend $40 each at a dealership for them-what a rip off!)

I'm sure there is more, but I can't think right now, I'm so upset with this car.

I traded my 04 GrandAm GT in for this piece of $hit. I leased it brand new. I wish I could have kept the GrandAm (divorce reasons), because I think Pontiac is really going downhill. I know one thing, when I trade this lease in, I am not getting another Pontiac!

Ok, I needed to vent. Has anyone else had problems with their G6's?

  1. You have GOT to be kidding me.

44k miles and you're complaining about having to replace the BRAKES?     Plenty of cars' brakes don't last anywhere NEAR that long.

Tie rod.....that's a maintenance issue.   No big deal.

    Wheel bearing.   bad luck, sorry.

    Tires....DUH.

Wiper blades....You can find them all day long in the aftermarket.   They are NOT a dealer-only item.

How many miles did your Grand Am have in the first two years?   If you didn't need some of this work, you were getting ready to when you sold it.

edit:  Google "06 Pontiac G6 wipers" and you'll find all you could ever need for less than ten bucks.   People HAVE heard of this cool thing on the internet called Google, haven't they?  *scratches head*

So in effect, you're complaining about a wheel bearing and a tie rod...both wear items that, while many do not fail at that mileage, some do.   And you compare this car to one you got rid of at the same point...probably right about when you were going to have some of the same concerns, no?

  2. Well most of the stuff you are complaining about is maintenance items. Breaks need to be replace how do you stop the car are you a hard stop driver? The tire rod could be what caused the wheel bearing. Whats the blinker doing is a bulb burnt out? You can buy after market wipers for the g6 just buy the new arms.

  3. Hi, I just changed mine for $9.99 each at auto zone, I don't know about everything else but of course the dealer and the midas guy are gonna tell yo that cuz they get to charge you for it, so just ask around, go to walmart or auto zone or murray's I'm sure they will help you with it, the midas guys wanted to charge me $585 for brakes, I changed brakes and rotors for $250 with a mechanic by my house, sometimes they just charge you for the name, don't give up, just keep looking. good luck.
